Excitement and anxiety can co-exist.
Like when you ask someone on a date.
Or you’re buying a home.
Or when you’re on a job interview.
If you’re excited and anxious about your interview, but you only focus on the anxiety, you won’t do well in your interview.

Focus on thoughts that excite and inspire you:

A better title.
Higher compensation.

I would Give it to him right now while he is there… he wont call off his vacation due to that and it would be worse a one week notice honestly (i think)
If you don't report directly to him, give your notice to the person you do report to at 2 weeks. They will make sure he knows.
I would give him the notice now. Or if you would be more comfortable, give it to HR. It’s just basic courtesy to give two weeks notice. You are moving so you can’t do much about it. They will appreciate the courtesy.
Whoever you need to give notice to, do it. Unless there’s some reason you’re worried they will accept it immediately and you will lose out on pay that you really need. But waiting with one week is not ideal. The known professional thing to do is 2 weeks and it could burn a bridge. I’ve seen it at my firm plenty of times when staff leaves and they want to come back or someone calls because they applied elsewhere and want to get a reference. It’s just better to keep your options open from what I’ve seen.
As a paralegal in a prominent insurance defense firm, you're likely well-versed in the importance of clear communication and adherence to protocols. When it comes to resigning, especially with a relocation on the horizon, it's crucial to consider both professional etiquette and personal circumstances.
What are they gonna do? Fire you? LOL. Sounds like you've got it in the bag. Best of luck to you in your new role and state!
So what happened? How did you handle it? How did it go?
