I am a very new insurance defense associate (week 6) and never really planned to practice in this area. I have an experienced mentor but he’s not super approachable. Any advice or resource recommendations? Also so far plaintiff’s document productions are absolute disorganized garbage (ie missing records, wrong records, records don’t match bills etc) Is this common or am I just unlucky? What do you do?

Not to be harsh but fix your attitude or get out.

The partner isn’t there to be your friend; they’re there to protect the organization and build up flows of new revenue to maintain the business.

If you’re seen as a liability to the org, you won’t make it long. If you’re humble enough to reach out and explain what you don’t know, show initiative, and commit to the job (for now) you’ll be an asset to the company.

You wanna pay your rent? You wanna feed yourself? Then you better get with the program fast.

What area of ins defense

I feel the same way.. it’s my 6 month and I am still very shocked. And even more shocked how crazy the insurance companies are with billing.

Very common. Plaintiff side has far fewer resources and equal if not greater caseloads. Get used to it and take advantage of it as it will increase your billables.

Healthcare corporations… please note you have more then 1 shift of workers. You have 3 most times, each shift has to be treated equally. Hi, new here.

I worked FT as a paralegal and went to law school in the evening. I recently interviewed at a small ID firm in employment law with about 9 attorneys. They asked for a writing sample. I dont have anything recent but provided what I had from last yr in a legal writing class, it was not enough for them. I became licensed this May so I dont have an array of motions to pick from. Then they asked for my undergrad transcript, at this point, I am now annoyed They are not Biglaw. Are they going overboard

It’s Friday night at midnight and I just got out of work. I am new to FPP defense. So far it’s soul crushing. I feel like a robot just doing the same pattern pleadings and discovery over and over. If I try to be creative or ask questions I get the response that I should not recreate the wheel… basically just cut and paste. My brain feels like it’s going to rot doing this work. Does it get better or do I need to plan my exit to a different field ASAP?
