When it comes to negotiating your salary, there is no hard and fast rule for how much to counter offer. It really depends on factors such as your level of experience, the job market, and the company's budget. Just make sure to explain why you think you deserve a higher salary, based on your qualifications, experience, and the job responsibilities.
I’d go 80k & they’d probably meet in the middle.
There is no set rule for counter-offering a salary, but you should research industry salaries and cost of living in the area to determine a fair salary. You could also ask for additional benefits or perks if the company cannot meet your salary request. I would say start high but not too high and you will meet in the middle.
Definitely negotiate more if you can but I’ll also say this. You are very fortunate to be graduating with your MSW and starting at 65K. Maybe you have prior experience which is great. I’m just thinking that 65K is rare and almost unheard for new social workers fresh out of grad school.
