I am an EY employee based in Chicago and putting in my notice next week. I know EY has moved to an unlimited vacation policy but given that I am in Illinois, am I entitled to any kind of payout? I also had a substantial amount accrued last year as of Dec31st. Any advice or guidance would be really appreciated from folks who recently left the firm and were based in Illinois. Thanks.

EY partner here. If you had a vacation balance on 12/31/20, you would get that paid out at the rate of your then salary.

I am based in Chicago. I was paid this week in my final paycheck my unused accrued pto from 2020. 188 hours.

like

Thanks. That's helpful.

I too have recently put in notice. I am under the assumption that Illinois labor laws require EY to pay out accrued unused PTO. My understanding is that our accrual ended on Dec 31st for 2020 and those hours were banked to be paid upon separation. At our current salary as well so the recent increase should be reflected in the payout.

Do you still get personal days? Those get paid out under Illinois law

I called EYHELP last week out of curiosity and I have 20 days of pay when I leave!

You will be paid for vacation hours

Hi,

I wanted to know if in Google India offices, do people get to work on projects like Machine learning/ Deep learning in Healthcare? Like for example Dr. Lily Peng is working as a Product manager for Diabetic Retinopathy diagnosis with ML.
If anyone from Google can throw some light on this, that would be really helpful.

Thanks!

Moved to the city about 6 months ago and I’ve been disappointed in my experience. I know the pandemic is playing a factor but I didn’t expect the winter days as gloomy as they’ve been. For those who have lived here for a while, is this normally what the winters are like? What do you do to keep things interesting when you can’t go outside? Last two months have made me consider moving but part of me feels like I won’t have given the city a fair shot
