What state are you in? Some companies say that because people are not aware that in many states this is illegal.
All of the MSAs with clients have a clause if they want to offer a Siegfried employee a contract. There’s a fee that’s agreed upon before you even start at the client. If you ultimately want to work at the client that offered you a job, Siegfried won’t stop you.
reddit has scathing reviews of the place. yes the pay is good but doesn't honestly seem worth it imo
Because it’s part of our higher purpose and sharpening our leadership intangibles. It’s on the Saturday so there isn’t conflicts with client work during the week days. So I guess weighing the cost of meetings in lieu of client work vs meetings on Saturday’s for an additional incentive leads to the latter.
Ewwww…
Is there a time period like within x months of your departure you can’t work for the clients/other competitor firm ? If it’s that I’ve heard of it before, but if it’s a permanent restriction like you can’t work for those firms forever then that’s really odd I would probably not take it. I mean why would you shut the door for those potential opportunities just for this one firm
Dont go there. Many other better firms
The headhunter told me this job pays very well, but the amount seems too good to be true. Is that right?
The money is real. I was skeptical too when I interviewed but I have averaged 40% bonus over the 3 years I have been there
1. Yes you sign a non-compete, which had me concerned as well, but after discussing with the legal team, it’s more of an agreement to not start at Siegfried, stay for a couple months, then quit and go to one of our competitors. If you are deployed on a client,
love what your do and the client wants you FT AND there is a 3 way understanding between you, the client, and Siegfried , then there typically aren’t any issues and Siegfried gains another relationship with that client. I’ve seen multiple cases of this.
2. I’m not sure the number of months on the non compete to our competitors, but I know for sure it’s not indefinitely.
3. I’ve been here 1 1/2 years and I love it. It’s such a drastic change from my time at PwC (4.5 yrs) and I actually enjoy what I do. The pay is exactly what I was expecting (and more) as well (base salary + incentives). I was skeptical on if professionals actually earn 30-40% of their base in incentives and turns it was even more this past year (42%).
4. I really don’t understand the rumors that Siegfried is a cult. It’s literally the same environment as PA, but more of an entrepreneurial vibe with the opportunity to earn super lucrative incentives, especially via recruiting and BD. The only con I’ve noticed is those that are very introverted and have zero intentions of staying up to date with their network, then Siegfried might not be a good fit. Rob really wants us to stay connected to our network and even added an additional perk this year where all professionals have x amount of budget to spend on their relationships (not having to be with potential recruits or business, just relationships). The amount depends on market and level, but for me, I’m literally able to spend $1,500/yr to cover golf outings with friends I see myself staying connected with long-term, for example… I mean how awesome is that? Haha
To your point @Author, I have worked substantially less in this role compared to my time in B4. During busy season, I was averaging 65-70 hours at PwC. At Siegfried, my worst week was 60 hours and my annual weekly average was 49… that was last year. This year. My average is probably around 46-47. So it just really depends on the client you are on.
Also, at PwC, I was in charge of 5 active engagements during busy season. At TSG, I have one client, one project. So clearly my day-to-day stress level is mitigated.
The goal at Siegfried is to gain more experience in other areas of accounting/finance type roles outside of our auditing track at B4. Some cases, people find their niche in 2 years, some longer. The ideal tenure hear is 5 years. That gives us ample time to figure out what we wanna do long term. So I’m ok with busting out a couple more years of longer weeks to determine what I wanna do for the rest of my life (as long as I’m being compensated for what I’m worth).
Am I wrong in thinking that signing a non-compete is normal? I honestly don’t know so asking more for my knowledge than questioning. But I’m almost certain I had to sign one when I made manager at my firm
It’s normal but it should not place undue strain on your ability to earn a living otherwise likely enforceable in court. Likely being the operative word.
They will chase you - look them up. They have a reputation but it depends on your level
When you people say average of 45 hours …it’s billable hours. What’s your average total hours?
Whatever you bill is what you work. You’re only hurting yourself if you eat hours. There are some administrative tasks throughout the year but that’s roughly 20 hours per year
