I am looking for my next role but I am having a hard time landing interviews. I want to get out of consulting into a Product/Program Manager Role. All my projects in consulting have been in Program/Project management. I was hired at a much lower level than I deserved (pandemic hire desperate for a job so did not negotiate) and this is in the top 2 reasons I’m looking for another role. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

BCG🐠 how long is the cool off period for a fresh application if I didn't get to the interview stage?

I trained on .net and then after I supported .net application. After 3 years I got to work on ssrs reports. We build reports from scratch in ssrs, then I worked on qlik view application. Attended training on qlik sense. My question is for which openings/certificate I have to look .net (I have only support knowledge) or reporting tools like ssrs, qlik view ? I am struggling to choose with the way to upgrade myself.

I feel like every company lies about “working your way up.” You’re never allowed to blatantly say that you don’t like your position and you’d like to transition to HR or Finance. It’s almost as if once you get in claims, you’re stuck.

If you’re a manager and you see an employee that wants to branch out into a different department, why would you keep them boxed in for 2+ years?

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb). I have all the data to do this, but wanted your thoughts. Would the output of this be relevant to you?

I finished final rounds 2 weeks ago and haven’t heard back. I followed up with the hiring manager and he said he hopes to give me an update within a week. Does this mean I’m rejected or they’re still interviewing other candidates?

Had the interview 2 weeks ago, the recruiter called today and gave me positive feedback, but said they need to complete the process with other candidates before making the decision. No rejection yet, but not a good sign of getting the offer?
