Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.

I’ve been on the other side of this, making not significantly less, but still less than somebody I was very similarly on par with at work. Made me realize that I needed to be more noticeable at work and work smarter not harder too. Happy for the other person to make more, just now I have to figure out how to get myself there.
When I found out that I was making less than my coworker, it was definitely a tough pill to swallow. I took it pretty personally, especially because I felt like I worked much harder and was more involved than they were. I realized that I was doing the best that I could with what I had, and that was all I could really do. It was definitely kind of a wakeup call though.
At a previous job I happened to find out I was being underpaid considerably. It angered me, but also motivated me. One thing I realized was that companies are just out to lowball anyone. And from the perspective of a corporation, pay equity is not a concept that even makes sense. They just don't care. And you have to advocate for yourself at every opportunity.
