I am wanting to get out of the restaurant industry but after 20 plus years I am finding it difficult to get an in anywhere else. I know a lot of my skills are transferable but I hope to maintain close to my same salary and without experience in the field it seems difficult to sell myself as a good option. Any suggestions?

That’s a hard switch because most places look for experience in a certain field. How about sales? Commission based places can be profitable if you’re lucky and good at selling.

like

Most people get out of their field cause they were referenced by an internal. But not everyone is that lucky

Do your best to match your résumé to the keywords of the industry you want to go into. It's tough because a lot of resumes are being filtered out due to keywords, so changing industries is harder than ever. But if your resume matches what they're looking for (with your own restaurant industry twist) it could help.

A good approach might be to find some companies you'd like to work for and do some research on them and apply. It all depends on what kind of position you'd like to land in, of course. But you can't wait around for something to find you, you might need to apply where you think you could fit in and see how it goes.

Have you thought about working with a recruiter? Sometimes they can help you figure out what skills you have that are applicable to other roles. Recruiters can be a really great resource.

I have less experience than both of you and I'm trying to get out food service. It is comforting knowing that other people are in the same situation though. I guess it's hard for everyone unfortunately.

What do you see as most attractive exit ops in Europe? In the US, everything is about Tech/FAANG, but it seems way less attractive in Europe (less strategic roles, comp. seems much lower than in the US, very centralized around London/Dublin).

Hi all, I’m currently a solution architect with 1yoe and two bachelors degrees. I also hold two cloud certifications and make 60k a year. This seems very low considering what I’ve seen for average SA salaries for those who hold the AWS SAA certification. Was hoping for some insight on this and if I should seek more compensation. Thanks!

Hi..
I Appeared for an interview for RPA - Automation Anywhere. I didn't got any response after the interview. Then when I reached hiring manager through LinkedIn I got to know I cleared all the rounds but my expected cts is high so they might have rejected. First thing is I never said what I am expecting . And I clearly told In managerial round that I am open for salary discussion.

But no one responded. Will I get the call back in time? Or I just leave it and go ahead with other companies?

Hi I was just offered a CM Manager position at Evelance aka Anthem with moderate salary 100k with 10% bonus. I was previously making 110k with 10%. Recruiter said probably would not match my previous salary and I would have to justify why I want more that job offer. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Additional Posts in Restaurants & Food Services

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
