I currently take 20mg of adderall daily. It helps me focus and I do see a huge difference in my productivity vs days I do not take my medication but I really don't like how it makes me feel. I am unable to eat or sleep well and get awful migraines. Has anyone had any luck with different supplements or ways to boost focus without medication?

Make sure that you are taking care of your physical needs like food and water. Adderall is a stimulant and can drown out your body’s “low fuel” signals.

- Take your meds first thing in the morning
- Eat a protein heavy breakfast right away
- Build in dedicated food or snack breaks throughout the day
- Always keep water within eye line in order to remember your fluid intake
- Chew gum to prevent dry mouth and jaw clenching
- Only eat a light dinner with enough digestion time before going to sleep
- Avoid alcohol intake too late in the evening
- Practice good sleep hygiene by going to bed at the same time every day and turning off all screens at least an hour before lights out
- Get a custom night-guard to prevent teeth grinding at night

Breakfast will depend on what you like, tbh.

Could be Greek yoghurt and granola, tuna on whole rye bread, eggs w. avocado and brown rice, etc. Check online, there’s a bunch of great recipes out there!

Quick note: Avoid anything acidic or high in Vitamin C - both things can mess with your meds, if you consume them with your stimulants.

Mushroom coffee - I use dose! Happy to send my referral code. One cup has since replaced 5 cups of coffee. I feel like I’m taking an adderall and colonopin at the same time. No brain fog!

Interesting. Can you please send your referral code?

I'm the same way. I haven't found any alternatives that provide the same level of focus and clarity, so I've been making the effort to take my medication first thing so that its effects are waning by the time I need to start winding down for bed. If I screw up and take it in the afternoon, I'm almost always up until at least 2 AM. I've also found getting exercise in on the days I take it to be very helpful in allowing me to fall asleep easier.

I have the same issue. Up until 2am and then taking the medication first thing in the morning to wake me up. I switched to instant instead of extended and find myself tired at normal time now and feeling hungry throughout the day. Huge improvement

Have you tried other medications?

I tried vyvanse years ago but did not react well to it

I have had 3 brain surgeries and went through a study at MD Anderson on ridiline

I alternate days and take 10mg. I also take it at 5am so it wears off by bedtime. Leave it by your bed and take as soon as the alarm goes off - I hate the crash on my off days, makes me feel like I’m going through withdrawal. But it’s the only way I can function 👎

The crash is awful. I can barely drive home some days.

This is something you should discuss with your doctor for sure.

Definitely try to take it early in the day, the XR form will continue for 10-12 hours.

Thank you Everyone who suggested my dose was off. I switched from 20mg XR to 10mg instant and feel so much better during the day. It’s a bit harder to focus on the reduced dose but benefits outweigh the cons

What are some habits that inhibit you from being successful at your job?

It’s looking like my job is gonna start asking us to return to the office. We have an open office plan and before we wfh FT I would save all my work for my telework days bc I can’t get shit done in the office. I’m having major anxiety about them making this decision. I know I’m not alone that people don’t want to return to the office. My ADHD and the open office just makes working from the office a nightmare and I’m feeling really nervous and kind of resentful.

I have tried absolutely everything I can think of to limit distractions during the work day and none of it has worked. Working from home has only made it 100 times worse because now I know there are other more interesting things to be distracted by all around me. What do you do to hold focus during working hours? What will get me to be able to work for longer than 35 minutes without getting distracted?

I keep starting huge projects or hobbies and being intensely into it for about 10 days/2 weeks, after which I forget about it and the project just lays around my house for months until I get interested in it again or I toss it out/donate it. It was fine when I was living alone but my partner is seriously frustrated with how messy the house gets and how much I spend on supplies for these things. How can I be less impulsive OR how can I stay motivated past the 10 day mark?? TIA

Hi! I’m a young professional with less than 2 years experience, started a new job 1.5 months ago. I’m having quite some difficulties on balancing out my response time to tasks. While I act incredibly fast if not immediately with some, I sometimes take 1-2 weeks with couple of hours worthy ones. Sometimes I ignore, procrastinate or simply other more urgent things come up to increase the delay. Also I work with 3 managers in my team which doesn’t help with expectations nor guidance. Any tips pls?

I told my boss about my ADHD in confidence because I was looking for a small accommodation (working from home x2 a week). I got it, but now I lowkey feel like she told other people in the office. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid but someone I'm friendly with in HR has been acting weird since Monday, which is when I told my boss. Would she have to tell HR legally? What should I do?

Does anyone have a list of the things (food, drink, other OTC meds) that make adderall less effective? I know I can simple google search and ask my doctor but want to hear other peoples thoughts…I love drinking my coffee to wake me up in the morning but I’m afraid it’s making my meds less bc of its acidic nature 😵

Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.
