OP: i feel behind in life since I make 65K. how much did you make?
Person: I made 50K
OP: oh great, so I'm at least in front of you. Self-esteem repaired.
Bruh, you feel behind? With this post, all you're doing is looking for someone else to stand in front of. Find some worth within yourself. Only compete with your future self and your needs. Make money to fund the lifestyle you want, not to compare to others
This post is gold!!!
I was making around 20 at that age. Unbelievable
Like $10/hr... LOL
Change your mindset, OP.
Same. $10.90 p/h.
At 23 I had internship for $12/hr, then an internship for $10/hr (I was spending a quarter of my paycheck just getting to and from work). Right before I turned 24 I landed my first full time job, making 52k a year.
I'm 32 now, should make about ~500k this year, and probably even more next year.
Everyone is running their own race. Focus on learning in demand skills, know how to communicate in a professional manner, and develop personal relationships with people you like and respect in your profession. You'll figure it out from there.
Wow that's awesome to hear. As a relatively young guy in SF CPQ I hope to shoot for that one day 🙏
At 23, I was probably making around 35K as a soldier. This was back in 2004.
Mine was early 80’s.
Still in school and borrowing more to pay for it
Yep. Graduated at 24
At 23, I made CAD$23K
At 34, I make CAD$600K.
Keep at it - continue to build your skill set. It will compound and pay off.
Started FT role as a consultant (and was hired as an employee) so they knew about other clients. Different line of biz so wasn’t an issue ever.

You cannot compare your journey to someone else’s. So many on this bowl are out of touch with reality and were making $100K or very close to it out of college. The median salary in the US is around $55K.
At 23 I was spending my entire first paycheck each month on rent and utilities. I always felt behind and compared myself to friends who were buying homes and going on multiple vacations per year.
At 29 I’m making $160K. I had to stop worrying what others were doing / how much they’re making. You don’t know their journey; maybe they struggled to get to where they are or maybe they had help from family money. You can only focus on yourself. Work hard, and you will get there eventually. Wherever “there” may be. It’s never too slow, we’re all on our own timeline.

40k. Changed to 400k pretty quickly
MM? EBs gave VPs even more last year
Life isn’t a race. Don’t compare yourself to others at that age.. it’s an awful way to live.
Instead I’d focus on making sure you’re happy with what you have 🤗

At 23 I was still finishing my masters, probably taking home $800 per month as a TA if I was lucky.
At 24 I started my first career job making $45k
By 27 I was making $65k after a couple promotions
By 28 I started at a new company making $95k
By 30 I moved again and make $127k
By 31 I had an unexpected opportunity to come to EY and make $165k
You’re doing fine, you just need to manage your career trajectory. My biggest net increases have happened in the more recent phases of my career because I have more experience and resources to leverage.
I honestly think you need to review your life if you're tired making 65K a year at 23. Back then I was making $31.5K a year. I'm in my 30s now. I was freaking enjoying life at 23. 65K for a 23 year old is amazing, live life a little! Go out and enjoy time with your friends. You deserve it. ❤️
All of this… 100%. I was making maybe 25k and exploring what it was that I actually enjoyed. Spending time with friends, making mistakes, learning about what I wanted in relationships. If you’re not doing that now, you’ll regret it when you have to do it over 40 when your body doesn’t work quite as well.
If you’re ‘tired’ at 23, you’ve got trouble ahead of you.

$26,000 🤣

$28k at that age for me. $65k at 23 is a good salary. Gotta put in the time, grow and learn to make the big bucks.

Bruh at 23 I was in law school still getting an allowance and taking on student debt 😂
