Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Find a side chick in each city you visit

Not sure about this one for the married folk
Pick at least one fun/ touristy thing to do in whatever city you go to. So you don’t feel like it was just flying to an office and back.
I traveled as an auditor in my 20's. I did it for 8yrs, in the 1990's, leading a team in charge . My travel was all in the US. I went to 48 states. Went to Hawaii a few times. This is back when company expense accounts weren't so tight. It was all fun until I met my husband. The travel became too much and I gave it up. I'm married 28yrs so no regrets. Enjoy the travel, eat local cuisine look for authentic local hole in the wall places to eat. I had a lot of BBQ. Stay at the best hotels and learn from your experience. Even the Midwest will have something interesting to observe.
I flew a lot when I worked in the Hotel business… what made it fun for me… talking to people at airport bars… I’d show up 3 hours early for a flight just to catch up with frequent flyers and bartenders and servers…

Interesting!
I think age and life situation matter a lot. Travelling for work when you are single, or married with no kids, is very different than travelling for work when you are leaving kids behind.

Very true
Gotta like your co-workers and being around them, remember not to get too drunk and say the wrong thing. One thing someone doesn’t talk about, it hard to maintain a relationship while traveling this much.

This is what makes it hard.
I laugh at the public accounting people who talk about the travel like they were being sent to Ibiza for four days.
Pro
Haha. Most of the time it was probably the Midwest (nothing against the Midwest)
When I used to travel, I'd see what sporting events, primarily MLB games, were going to be played while there. It was great to see new stadiums, experience different fandoms, and have the flexibility to leave whenever it was time to call it a day. Back then, ticket prices were reasonable, don't know nowadays.
This is great
