I feel like this day and age we are too available for immediate response. I think it’s abnormal to have teams and/or slack. Realistically when I’m in the office my boss never spoke with me that much. Anyone feel the same?

100% agree. I'm old enough to remember a world before smart phones and wish we could go back to that simpler time. As is, I have to mute notifications on every device just to be able to hear myself think, at work and at home.

like

Right I miss being able to fully disconnect. I definitely mute a lot of chats too

I definitely agree. I got in trouble once because I didn't respond when my boss emailed me at 8 PM on a Friday. I was told I'm not a team player cause I didn't respond until Monday morning. He said that I should've been able to send him a response on my phone?? No.

like

Oh wow glad you put your foot down with boundaries

Omg yes. I have to silence everything but it’s shocking how many people respond after hours because it’s expected of them. I won’t until I’m explicitly asked

People need better boundaries for sure

Yeah I refuse to respond outside of work hours/on weekends. If you want to IM me, have at it but I’ll get back to you monday morning

Today shit blew up so much on my two gigs all I could hear for hours was the constant barrage of pinging noises from outlook, gmail, slack and teams. Like some kind of hellish tech sounding symphony. I will probably go to sleep tonight with pings, clicks, chimes and whooshes echoing in my head into the void. Seriously y’all how do we not lose our fucking minds?

I have 7 years experience in sales. But I am relocating from North Carolina to Massachusetts.

Would anyone happen to know any great companies hiring?

A majority of my experience is in the logistics and logistics technology side of sales. I’ve been working remotely doing over the phone/ zoom demo sales. But I would love the opportunity to service my clients in person!

Researching the job mkt & pay for nursing: It is so easy to set up a first interview esp. as a nurse. Set up a zoom meeting, in the zoom meeting ask abt job details and ask for the salary range. They will give it to you, and in my case it was the same range for both of the companies. (Hospice oncall nurse here👋). Then you fit in somewhere on that continuum based on education & experience—that where the negotiation comes in—they will make a case to place you as low as possible on the scale.

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?

McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!

Republicans... in hindsight, do you think it was a political miscalculation to have Pence on the ticket? Seems to me it would have been advantageous to have someone firmly in the Trump camp - like Alex Jones - as his VP to galvanize the base and put more daylight between the Trump ticket and Biden’s mainline political position. Thoughts?

I was interviewed for a major tech player in the hospitality industry, had 2 interviews which for the first one the recruiter was late, and didn't confirm the interview while I emaild her to make sure I do have an interview. When she attended she said that there was no point of responding my email as we are meeting anyway. Later on I had 2nd interview with the hiring manager. After 45 minutes she said they will let me know...
