Off topic: I am stuck in a service based company for last 4 years in a shitty project. The work I do can be done by a 12th grader. Now i want to move out by learning something new & changing my domain. But the thing is I am not able to study because I am stuck in a comfort zone and learning new thing gives me bad anxiety. It feels like I will never learn & be forever stuck here. Pls help on how to come out of comfort zone, learn things and apply for the job. Tata Consultancy Infosys Wipro

If you can swing it, I recommend hiring a career coach. It's nice to have dedicated and scheduled blocks of time to process my development and also what I want in my career. Scope can be as near or long term as you want.
I second using a career coach to help you decide what you want to do next.
Took a sabbatical.
The worst they can say is no. Then there are various ways you should be able to take leave and they may not be able to do anything about it. It might be unpaid leave, but at least you’d have health insurance (yay USA) and the job would be there at least for a bit when you got back. If you think you might have to go that route though it might be better not to ask up front since it could make your leave seem like a pretext.
In any event if there is any partner or someone you work closely with or have a good relationship with otherwise I would suggest discussing your concerns with them first. They may have been through the same thing or they may be able to intervene or make other suggestions.
I like all the suggestions here. If you can't afford either, why not be more forceful in your personal boundaries? Block out some time on the weekend for you to meditate or focus on just this question. You'll have to be very disciplined and protect this time from all other distractions, but you can do it.
Much appreciated.
I am also trying to determine my next steps, and am currently reading this book. Author is a trial attorney turned chocolate maker, so he gets it.

I recently started, but in chapter 1 there are several exercises—heavy lifting, if you will. I’m looking forward to what completing the exercises may reveal!
