I found out this week that I’m getting promoted to tax manager this fall. I had applied for a senior FP&A role at an insurance industry and now they asked me to the final round of interviews. Really my only reason for leaving is pay and wanting more consistent hours, but I worry industry will leave me wanting more money. What are your thoughts on this situation? Currently at a mid-tier firm.

Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. I converted $30k of rollover 401k into a Roth IRA and have $26k of realized ST Capital Gains this year (Roth conversion in end of Q1 and most capital gains in Q2).
My total federal withholding tax last year was approximately $12k and this year I will have 40% more in reported income on my employer W2 and anticipate higher that $12k federal withholding for my new job. Given this, what is the best way to go about making est. tax payments for the income (continued.)
