Where do you work that they treat you like a 3rd grader?? I have never heard of such a thing and would definitely not tolerate it.
Devil’s advocate- if it’s an hourly position you’re paying for them to work the entire time not just get an acceptable amount of work done. And let’s be honest, with office jobs there’s always more work- it’s impossible to fully complete everything pending.
You should not need to be treated like a child. What a strange firm that must be.
The micro-managing that goes on is ridiculous.
When I was clerking, my boss explained it like this: “as support staff it’s understandable if occasionally you’re on your phone for personal matters. But if EVERY time I walk past you I see you on your cellphone (for which you have no work purposes) I’m going to think you’re not working.”

I would hate to be in a workplace where I’d have to feel like I’m being watched 24/7 or not trusted in regards to achieving the desired output, or being micromanaged all the time.
