Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector.
Its presence is tiny and it's gotten even smaller. Meanwhile it's bungling whatever opportunities it's getting.

Don’t be an idiot please take BCG and don’t look back
Yea don't listen to SVP1, drank to much bRaNd kool-aid. Go do what Deloitte1 said instead.

You think the opportunity at Deloitte is better than BCG? .....what?
Rising Star
I’ve read a lot of MBBers saying it’s harder to transfer from internal to client facing than it is getting an outright client facing offer. I’m at D so take that for what it’s worth lol
Client facing> all back office roles
Ahhh so many conflicting opinions
Accept BCG. Continue interviewing with Deloitte and if you get the offer with Deloitte - reach out to BCG and let them know you’ll be unable to move forward.
They wouldn’t hesitate to rescind your offer due to “business circumstances”. Do what is best for you.
Accept and interview with deloitte...worst case you renege...but bcg is better career wise
Noted thank you!
You could tell them that you’re interested in more front office work and ask if you can interview for those roles as well as the knowledge team.
But I 100% agree with you that Deloitte consulting > BCG knowledge
Haha OP must be super confused after this response
Deloitte culture is toxic, go to BCG when you can
BCG is a sure thing because you’ve recieved an offer. This is a 1st round interview with Deloitte and there’s no guarantee you’ll get the job
Play it safe, IMO
I agree. Just needed some external opinions so thank you!
Wow stirred a lot of response. For clarity the BCG role is knowledge team topic activation. Deloitte is fully client facing. I have 3.5 YOE.

Actually...I might push D here and ask them to move more quickly.
I would probably take D in their consulting pool, especially since their WLB is generally better than MBB
First round is too early to be expedited to a final offer. BCG it is . Congrats

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood in some way.
In what way is the Deloitte role a better opportunity?
Yeah. I mean Deloitte first round isn’t going to move any faster. It may take 1-2 weeks to get done and an offer. I’d take BCG and continue to move forward with Deloitte and see if you can get the offer. Can always back out of BCG bc it’s an easy sell - internal vs client facing role.
Have you ASKED BCG to do client facing consultant work? Fortune favours the brave my friend.
“Thanks so much for the offer. I was just thinking, that in a few years, or could be longer or shorter since I understand BCG is quite a dynamic place, what would you say would be the chances that I’m able to pivot into client facing core CT work as I’m currently doing? Like, what would you suggest and possibly when would that option be open? Is there a set timeline or could that happen, say for example even now perhaps? Just want to get a better understanding of the internal structure here….”
Be open minded and creative, we are here at BCG 😊

If you join BCG you can ask to do client facing role. If you do well then you can switch tracks. Of course, not guaranteed.
Disagree. I’ve seen many people moved from KT to ECT
Deloitte moves slow in my experience.
Good to know
Dude assuming it is S&O, go for Deloitte. Why become a back office guy at BCG. You’re a senior consultant, I assume that is a few years post MBA?
Don’t do it for the name anymore. Amass your clientele and think about making Partner. I personally think it is much better at this point to start thinking about becoming a leader and to drive BD.
OP said they have 3.5 YOE so thinking they don't have an MBA...and would be hard pressed for an SC role at D.
Accept the BCG offer and then back out if you get the Deloitte offer. It’s at will employment and these massive companies don’t give a shit about you
Don’t turn down a stable job for uncertainty. As someone from Deloitte, MBB has brand recognition. If role isn’t exactly what you want, see if Deloitte will expedite or bcg will extend decision timeline
Congrats either way!
