If you're on a PiP, is it better to quit just before the end stage, when you get fired, or better to get fired and collect unemployment, but also have a company-based termination on your record
I have constant anxiety over being laid off or fired. To the point that I’m starting to feel paranoid, reading into everything around me. I need some tips on how to deal with this as it’s crushing me.
How are people "networking" now that we are wfh? I mean, you are barely even aware if people still work in the same company. Previously, you at least saw them every now and then at the office but now... They could have fired half the company and I wouldn't know
Does anyone else feel like their burn-out cycle is shorter? It used to take me about 2 years of grind before I hit a burn-out phase where I needed to do some serious recuperating. It feels like I'm at 3 months now, or even less. I've already spoken to my wife about building quarterly mini-vacations into my schedule just to keep my energy up. And by burn-out, I mean you're at the point that every single ball you are juggling can drop and you get fired and almost see that as a blessing.
Accenture HR: When a prospective employer runs a background check, does HR tell them reason for leaving (quit, fired, etc.) or just dates of employment? Was fired in September and wondering if I am required to tell them (upon asking why there’s a gap) if I was fired or just that I decided to leave.
It’s restructuring season. KPMG, GT, and other firms have begun announcing layoffs. Everyone should take some time to polish off their resume. It’s a cold world out there and loyalty means nothing to your employer. Here’s to hoping that everyone lands on their feet and I’ll see y’all in a happier future.
How do I have the conversation with a Partner about writing a letter of rec for a PhD program? Will I put myself a risk of being laid off if I express interest in continuing my education?
Anyone worried about layoffs? I saw a post about Deloitte laying off 5000 employees ... I know EY saying no lay off this year but what about other firms?
I got laid off and 3 weeks later a SC from HR sends me an email about an opening at the firm. Should I apply???
The more pedestrian your intellect, the better fit you are at D Heard of a colleague with an FRM charter being laid off today. Overall excellent person. And you won't believe who they promote year after year.. the character, curiosity and quality of the lifers Don't join this firm if you for a love of learning and to be inspired. Join if you are a middling who wants a good brand to hack ahead in life and rise above your station
Layoff news from Deloitte! Is there a pattern?
Given the current scenario, seems like getting laid off is a very real possibility. What is the severance package like at EY, PwC, Deloitte? Just curious
Many of my colleagues that started with me have been laid off. Where should I start looking just in case. Key resume points: - TS/SCI + poly - Security+ - AWS CCP - PMP - want to stay in DC area
Unfortunately was just laid off. I’m taking this as an opportunity to look forward to new experiences and people to work with. If anyone knows of any Producer gigs, I’m now available. I’m agency side.
What happens when you get laid off? Do you get to stay until the end of the day? Do you say goodbye to people or try to leave without anyone noticing?
All this news of layoffs is so depressing. I’m blaming holding company greed. This forces agencies to be ruthless and squeeze employees until they are in the brink of nervous breakdowns.
Would you get fired if you edit your department partners’ picture and send it to your colleague?
I feel for all of those being laid off. Truly best of luck finding something. One thing I realized as a millennial in consulting is job security is non existent.
Does it bother you that the job market is so faddish? When I left college (pre-crisis) most wanted to work for a bank or MBB. Now all I hear about is FANG (but mostly G) and startups.
I was supposed to go out of town this weekend but I’ve been up most of the night because I’m sick 🙄🥺 Now I just feel sad and bored, so much for celebrating on being vaccinated 🥲
Anyone from Amazon willing to connect? I saw a Corporate Development role that I believe I am good fit.
Anyone interviewed with Facebook, ideally for Product roles? Have an initial interview, want to understand how best to prepare. Thanks! Facebook
What is working at Citadel like? Talking to a recruiter for an ops role, but she mentioned that the ex-MBB team works as hard as they did in consulting (if not harder). Also see online the Citadel is called “Chicago’s revolving door”? A bad exit for someone wanting a bit more sustainability?
Anyone know of Cyber Security / Operational Resilience jobs coming up that are not currently posted on LinkedIn as well as comp info for SA/SC? Know Cap Invent is hiring hard, any other firms?
Interviewing with BCG next week. Approximately how many questions would be asked in the 25 minute fit portion? My interviewer has an interesting hobby (from the bio provided) that I want to ask about, but I don’t want to impede on any behavioral questions that need to be asked
Truly don’t understand how people who don’t understand media become the media leads on the client side. If I was that uneducated about the industry I worked in I’d never get hired!
Is it normal for teams to lose it on each other on a regular basis? I’m fairly new to the B4 and never experienced it at former firms. It starts at the top and it’s starting to take a toll on my performance. Not sure if I need to suck it up and deal with it or start thinking about changing teams. TIA
Towns to stay in and things to do / see on a road trip from SFO to LA over a 3-day weekend? We are both outdoorsy people and love hiking. Thank you 🙌🏻
Hey guys! Has anyone made the pivot from Merchandising to Project Management? I’d love to chat as it is something I am looking to do. Thanks! :)
S2 right now. Planning to leave in spring 2023 and get MBA. If I still perform above average/well up until I leave for school - Could I push to get promoted to manager with the intention of leaving right after? I want to get the official title change as it may help with recruiting while in b school. I also am considering letting my immediate partner know this as soon as I get a high gmat score.
And I was offered by EY GDS to be a Technology Consultant. How's life there? Is work-life balance real? How about permanent remote work?
Anybody else tired of working from home/remote?
Hi This is Mriganka Das working on Big Data Analytics in Nomura . My total experience is 6+ yrs and relevant in Big Data is 2.8 yrs .If there is any openings in any of the Big 4 pls do let me know..
Does anyone have any info on the lifestyle and comp of Alvarez and Marsal, Corporate Restructuring?
Question To all CA 🐠 that left EY this year, after conversion to unlimited PTO, did u get your 2020 accrued PTO paid out? if yes, how long after you left did you get the payout? I had about 80 hours at the end of last year and have been diligent of not using any knowing I would be leaving this year.
What are some complexes you would recommend for a spacious 1br 1ba (or 2br 1ba) under $2K near the battery. I’m a young professional thats permanently remote and needs space to set up a nice home office.
In the past year, I doubled my salary, achieved a lot of my short term goals (non-financial), but I've understandably been pretty exhausted. I know it shouldn't matter but I ran into my toxic ex-boyfriend's best friends (from 5 years ago), and boy it felt nice to see their faces in shock when they asked me what had been new 😅 petty, but reminded me of how far I had come since then and felt good to say aloud to them
On a project where we fly out Monday evening or Tuesday morning and are remote Fridays and Mondays 🤤🤤
