That blows. Sorry friend. It will be VERY tempting to do nothing and wait until the new year, but don’t do that. Polish up your LI profile, resume, book and start networking. Swallow your pride, smile/wave, look as upbeat as possible. While this is a slow time and nothing will likely happens, this movement will give you more momentum when the calendar flips. Good luck and keep us posted.
Thank you ❤️
Hey, to be sad is super normal, but try not to spend too much time with the self pity thing.
Time to change your portfolio around. Even if you don’t have new work, change the template. Change the background color. Change whatever.
It’s also time to create/produce that side project that can help you get back in the game.
But overall, give yourself some time. Try to go to that exposition that you didn’t have time to go. Or go watch that play you wanted. Or those movies you didn’t have time before.
It’s a season. It’s not you. Just make sure you are ready to get back. Mentally and professionally.
The biggest thing I wish I did after I got laid off was enjoy some time for yourself. Try and relax, make some time for exercising and your family and friends. super important and I would change it if I had to go back!
Many people wait until the end of the year to change jobs because of the 401k match, so right about now there should be new openings. Good luck!
