Do it. Too many people are afraid to just be nice and friendly in this industry. What's the worst that could happen?
Yes, do it. If they liked you it means they’re more likely to refer you to people in their orbit or to reach out in the future.
Thanks all. You convinced me to write back. The surprise 180 rejection really stung and I’m still reeling, but at least this way I feel like I’m exiting stage left with class.

Chances are it had nothing to do with you, and everything to do with another candidate: They worked with someone on the team before, they had experience doing something super specific and relevant, etc.
As long as you feel you represented yourself well (and it sounds like you did), you have nothing to feel bad about.
Absolutely. It shows that you were truly interested but also understand that they went in a different direction and are a pro about it.
You totally should! What you're saying doesn't sound pushy and frankly during a long interview process it's welcome to have a truly human interaction as a hiring manager.
Definitely do it. That’s the stuff that stands out.
Definitely reach out again - doesn’t hurt and shows you really were interested. They may have had someone else in mind for that position, and if something else opens they will think to reach out to you first.
Absolutely. Never a bad thing to show appreciation and to be friendly. You'll be remembered as that person who sent the good note.
