I am currently pursuing a position to be a 401k workplace planning consultant with Fidelity Investments. I would like to connect with someone who has gone through that training and early hiring process to make sure I have a solid understanding of the position. This is specifically for the Raleigh/Durham NC area if possible.

Eek! Didn’t really instill a ton of confidence in that answer. I can appreciate that recruiters are very hesitant to give a black and white answer, but not having anything positive in the WLB is a concern. Might still be worth the interview to find out more. Would be something I’d bring up.
Exactly! I was surprised at the response because I used (what I thought) was a hyperbolic metric for comparison but to NOT say “oh no never “ to “80 hrs” …… Definitely: Eek! 😬
Thanks for the insight!
The fact that you gave a specific number of hours and that was the response says to run away fast if you want any wlb

I'm confused how you're confused. You asked if they value workife balance, they do not, and you do. So...

Lol definitely very best of wishes to you as well 🙏 Good luck out there
Sounds like they definitely do not value WLB, but if you're desperate, might be worth taking the job and continue applying. It's not ideal but I know plenty of people who are doing this in this job market.
RUN! But also, the recruiter might not really know and they don't know how filling the role you're looking at will help the load of the folks already there. Can you talk to folks on the team who would be your peers? Can you ask the hiring manager about the trajectory of the team and project load?
Thanks C1!
I’ve asked about this and the only individual I’ll be able to speak with in the person who is currently handling some of the tasks that will be assigned to the role I’m interviewing for .
I will have to try to glean information about it from them .
hard pass. no wlb

They will chew you up and spit you out. And they told you that when asked.
Interesting take VC1 . Although the response was clear from the recruiter, i haven’t spoken with internal staff yet and was ambivalent about whether or not to proceed in an effort to glean more information.
It seems that your hunch is that the recruiter’s word was enough to turn down the interview with internal staff. Have you been in a similar position that’s conceptually substantiated recruiters being more “in the know” about work culture vs internal employees?
Thanks for your perspective!
