Why would you be doing year long implementations at Accenture in our cyber division...? Only people who are doing implementations are the technology group assigned to specific technologies such as SAP, workday, etc or Project management on the MC side
I’d pick Accenture, higher comp at non partner level and 401k is better than all the big 4 combined. (Yes ladies and gentlemen, 6% contribution 100% match fully vested after 2 years)
Technical doesn’t always mean implementation when it comes to cyber. For cyber that can mean hands on technical skills you acquire which may be using the command line in various OS, scanning systems, firewalls, vulnerabilities, etc. Just some examples.
If you invest in stocks don’t go for EY, lots of independence restrictions. Also ACN only has a 6-12 months clawback on signing bonus vs EY could be 2-3 years. From a financial perspective ACN made more sense but I chose EY as I didn’t want to get stuck in a 2 yr implementation project. Losing 401k match and pension doesn’t vest for 3 years + independence restrictions
I believe my recruiter mentioned it was a 1-2yr clawback for ACN, I know it that for EY.
I really like ACN’s 401k match of $1:$1 up to 6% vs EY’s 25¢:$1 up to 6%, and I keep hearing ACN has a higher salary bands, so I expect more from ACN, but idek if I should expect much from any firm on next years raises/bonuses given the situation.
I just don’t want to get stuck on implementation exclusively. My goal as I work towards M is to become less hands-on at that level and focus more on the business aspect, and that’s where ACN has me concerned the most.
Pro
Accenture is a sinking ship right now from what i hear. Go with EY.
Where have you heard this? Last I checked they were doing quite well.
I’m also looking for a strong SC experience to later be an strong M candidate, which I’m sure both firms prepare you to be an M, but which M’s are valued more in the market, EY or ACN (if there even is a difference)
I think to boil down my thoughts into a sentence: I’m concerned if I take *potential* higher pay bands at ACN (initial offers are both the same) I’ll pigeonhole myself into implementation work and not have the chance to transition into a more traditional business oriented M, as I would expect from D/EY
EY all the way
Worked there. Was a great experience.
Honestly, answering this question is tough workout knowing the exact numbers of the offers.
As for promoting to manager, it will happen at both, the question will be how long it will take and how much growth there is for the specific practices.
Me personally, Accenture > EY.
I’m more concerned about the type of cyber/Identity & Access Management work id be doing at each firm (implementation vs assessments/roadmaps), and where I would get the best experience to be better off 2-5yrs from now, whether that be at the same firm or in the B4 market. Are there any specifics that make you say Accenture over EY, especially regarding cyber consulting?
