Is this post about me
Someone has a song on their mind! I love it!
Sounds like a typical lawyer
Your coworker is a Democrat.
Avoid it.
I love that your solution is more unsolicited advice
schizotypal. diagnose all your friends.
It sounds like racing thoughts, which could be anxiety or ADHD. If they’re significantly paranoid it could be something more serious. You could offer to go to a wellness CLE with them (for your own benefit to make it not sound like it’s about them) and encourage them to meditate.
Hey I had this same issue and it turned out I was schizophrenic. There’s really no one to politely tell someone they need to see a therapist.
Blow or speed.
Did you make this diagnosis on the basis of 4 years of medical school, 4 years of a psychiatric residency program and 2 years of a psychiatric fellowship?
Maybe your coworker is right.
This behavior could stem from so many different things though. It might be better to just address each thing rather than trying to guess an overarching explanation without information. Frame it in terms of how the behavior seems to negatively impact the person and how you're concerned. Don't come at them being like "hey so you might be schizophrenic / autistic / paranoid / clinically anxious / hypervigilent due to trauma blah blah."
It would be helpful to know more examples, and what your goal is with addressing it. Also, is this a supervisor? Someone you supervise? Do you have to work with them directly on your matters, or are they just someone you see in the office?
Agree ecqmples would be helpful of what is “overly direct” the rest kinda sounds like anxiety and insecurity. Is it impacting their work?
Chief
Sounds like schizophrenia, you should probably confront them about this.
sounds like me. I’m just a Virgo with ADD. If it’s not resulting in any harm to anyone just leave them be. I’m sure they’re aware of it already and pointing it out may just make them even more self conscious
its none of your business keep the focus on yourself.
