I took that route. Your experience isn’t ideal for BD roles, but still possible (ideally you would have deal experience). Corporate strategy should be more feasible.
Guessing it means a company has 1 drug candidate that they’re presenting to the world for a license deal. Multiple companies will get said drug, test it, scientists tell leadership, leaderships works with business development, then depending how good each company finds this drug there will be bidding to acquire the rights to develop it and negotiation with the company that’s looking to sell it. Companies look to do this if they have parts of the pipeline that need strengthening like Amgen licensing ADC technology off Synaffix for 2 billion.
I made that jump though was more broadly strategy focused in consulting rather than just market access. Key project types to speak to for BD include due diligence, BD strategy (e.g., prioritization of assets for potential partnership), market landscapes, indication prioritization.
