Depends-when does your current insurance end and when does your new start. I personally would have an end date at the beginning of a month and start the new job before the end of the month (I.e., last day March 8 and start March 22). This way you likely have insurance for all of March (old job might cover through March and new job insurance kicks in April 1).
Yes, you should call them if you aren't comfortable asking your HR department.
Typically your insurance will expire at the end of the month that you quit. So if possible try to quit at the beginning of the month.
This is correct, unless your company is self-insured
You have COBRA, you can buy it retroactively for either 30 or 60 days. It should be part of your off-boarding - if not, ask
Health insurance is normally provided until the end of the last month you work for the company, and then you would be eligible to use Cobra coverage. If your new employer does not provide health insurance for you, Cobra is always an option, but your premium may be substantially higher than what you were paying with the previous employer. If the new employer provides health insurance, then that should start on your first day of employment. You should not have a gap in coverage from one employer to the next if both companies offer it. Check with your benefit advisors to confirm. Taking a week off doesn't affect your health insurance coverage, from my experience. I hope this helps.
What is your insurance plan (the insurance company name and plan name)?
They run month to month. So your insurance is active from the first day of the month through the last day. Let's say you resign tomorrow and your scheduled last day is Feb 24, your insurance will expire on Feb 29 then. If your last day is Mar 5, your insurance will last through March 31. I wouldn't make your last day Mar 1, as your HR will have time to do pull you out of the hill and keep you uninsured through March
My companies usually go month to month. I think the bigger question in my mind is when the new plan starts. I wouldn't accept a job that delays insurance beyond starting the 1st day of the 1st full month of employment
Usually active until the end of a month, but if you have an HR rep maybe they’d know. Insurance is intentionally confusing. Congrats though.
Btw. Have they filled your current role? I’m looking to jump into something soon.
I haven’t even gotten an offer yet, I just know it’s coming. I appreciate your moxie!
Typically you would have insurance until the end of that month. Because you're most certainly paying for it.
You insurance renews monthly so you can plan accordingly or accept cobra. Also find out when insurance does kick in at your next company
