I have a Skype therapy session every Wednesday - team lead suddenly wants to know what I'm doing that hour - how do I explain without giving it away? :(

Op - I mean this with love. Is it possible for you to reschedule this to a Friday? Stepping out in the middle of a workday when you're possibly at the client does look sketch. If it's not absolutely pertinent to have it on Wednesday, I would suggest you look in to moving it to a Friday.

like

None of team's business. Either call it personal and leave it at that or if really pressured, discuss with team leader.

like

No. Fuck that. Your mental well being is #1. Explain it you have to otherwise say that it is an ongoing doctor appointment that is important for maintenaining your health

like

Personal call.

like

Say it's personal appointment and if they have an issue with it to address HR. You don't have to reveal the details of a mental health appointment with your team.

like

Say "I've got a call I can't reschedule. What did you need?"

like

Where did you find a Skype therapist? Genuinely interested

like

@P2 I went on PsychologyToday.com - they have a filter option for virtual therapy 😄

like

Thanks guys. This team really sucks - gets all up in my business and really loves to big brother everyone. I'm not sure they'll accept "it's personal," but I'll stick to my guns

like

You, don't. That's HIPAA info. But it is personal work and you should try to do it outside of office hours. If you can't, you can't, but you should try.

like

Consider having it outside of working hours if possible or when you won't be having the team/client needing you

like

What about doing after biz hours? My mom is a therapist and she sees 95% of her patients after 5 precisely because people need to work.

like

Appt or personal

It's personal.

@K1 this is a M-F project :(

@P4 I LOVE my therapist but she only works 9-5, M-F ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh gotcha

The job itself sounds pretty interesting. Lots of opportunity for growth (eventually will build out a team).

My only concern is the hiring manager. I talked to someone in my network who has worked with him in the past and she told me that she would 100% work with him again bc she learned a lot, but that he has a very dominant personality and that some ppl can butt heads with him.
