I have an degree in administration and will be graduating with a degree in marketing this May. I am have some trouble trying to get an internship or an "entry level" job but they both require a certain amount of years of experience. I've checked on Indeed and Linkedln but Ive had no luck. I have experience in the non-profit industry as a guest service manager and some experience with payroll from a small business. Any advice on what I can do to stand out and get an interview? Thanks.

Amazon is currently taking college students for internships and some might need relocation but I can get you a referral or lCheck on LinkedIn too . I saw postings this week . There tough to get in but if you get a referral sometimes it helps . There internship are paid or Walmart logistics they also sometimes have internships .

I'd imagine you're DOA. Marketing is not a field you want to be in. You should follow the administration route and try to get something in public education and potentially convert that marketing degree or reuse credits for something related to that. Maybe, the economy improves by then but I doubt it. Check your college's job fair and cut salary expectations to bone. I really see no path other than education.

I recently joined Swiss Re at 30lpa, pretty good manager and work culture. Got a hike of 10% in 3 months without me asking for it. But got an offer from another company which I was interviewing for before joining here and they are offering a base of 45lpa. Now I am unsure how I convey this to my manager coz I want to stay here but at the same time I am salivating over this new offer and wish I get similar numbers here. Is it worth raising a discussion? If yes what would be a subtle way to do so?

Hiring managers: How is the interview process like at your company and how much say do you have when it comes to choosing that candidate?

I had a behavioral interview with a manager from another team and a case study with the hiring manager. They both took notes as I gave my answers but the first manager was very disinterested from the get go and was distracted as he kept looking away from the screen.

I’m wondering how much influence the first manager has since I’m not sure what he’s writing

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.
