Additional Posts in Interview Tips
Not so much an interview tip question, but more a timeline question. Have applied for a role at Deloitte on July 11. The status of my application on the portal has since been updated to “shortlisted” on July 20. I haven’t heard anything about the status of my application other than the updates on the portal. When should I expect to get an update about next steps? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I’m also based in Melbourne, Australia.
Amazon Hi all, so I'm interviewing for Associate Cloud App Dev, A2C ProServe. I was wondering if anyone could provide insight on what the process is like? The recruiter said 80% behavioral and 20% technical. So, will they be testing cloud knowledge?
My background is mostly MERN focused on React/Node.js. I'm open to learning, but am I super out of my depth?
Pro tip: if you’re the dumbest person in the room, but takes notes, show initiative, show you’re coachable, show you’re hungry, you may trump ppl with technical ability but no desire.
This an extremely good tip! If you can add this to being able to communicate what you know that you know, what you know that you don’t know, and be open to feedback on what you don’t know that you don’t…you’re essentially the perfect candidate on an EQ basis
Good luck! I’m sure you’re well prepared and will do well. On a side note: why the hell do they need 4 1:1s and a panel round with 5 people for an internship? Recruiting is broken!
Ah that makes sense
Just hopping in here to say first, congratulations! If you have made it this far into their process, they have clearly identified exceptional attributes you will be contributing. Second, although I don’t have specific SpaceX interview experience, I’d suggest practicing your project and think of questions YOU would want to ask someone presenting same project to you. Most importantly, be yourself, smile and don’t forget to make eye contact. Best of luck!
Thank you for the kind words! I'll be sure to do that :)
1) Congratulations!
2) You know your project best, you know why you did what you did for each decision you had to make with your project. Own those decisions. If they say something like "why didn't you do xyz instead?" State your reason as to why you did what you did and add "but that's a good point, worth looking into in the future". Essentially, don't be defensive and know your project well.
3) You may very well be the "dumbest" in the room. That's because the panel will likely be filled with people with 5, 10, 20+ more years of experience. They'll be fully aware of that and you should too. It isn't reasonable or fair to compare how "smart" you are with their expertise. Plus, It's most likely the case they're almost equally if not more interested in seeing how you handle this type of situation.
I wonder if these panel project presentations are becoming more common, I had to prep for a similar interview round for another company myself.
Thanks for addressing so many of my concerns! I'm very grateful for your inputs. I need to stop thinking that this interview is one-way; it's also a way for me to gauge if the company and the team is a good fit for me! I will keep your points and advice in mind, they're much appreciated!
How did it go? Im looking into interviewing with SpaceX as well!
