I have been in the classical music industry for 15 years and some nonprofit positions I had on the producing side were often highly volatile in many aspects of work-life balance, stress, inappropriate or unkind coworker relations. I see program manager or project manager titles as best ways to pivot. I read often that users say Google certifications are free, but when i tried to do the project manager one, it’s still always asking for payment. Has anyone ever done it for free?

Throughout my career, I have worked at both “traditional” and “digital” shops. My current agency would fall under traditional but also offers digital services. Our process, roles and skillsets seem way outdated but I wasn’t sure if it was just my opinion or if this is just how it works. For example, we have no CTO or tech leads. Our digital producers feel more like project managers than actual producers. Account Management is just traditional, no real digital knowledge. Feels layered and dated.

For those who hire new software developers, does it make you stand out if you get your certificate from a university instead of a coding academy (like coding dojo or something)?
