I'm in the same boat but am continuing to upskill because I'm getting zero bites from anyone for any job. I'm focusing on junior offensive and soc analyst roles.
I'm thinking I may have to continue upskilling and documenting progress on LinkedIn to get some more interest from employers/recruiters.
Get your CySa+ and do some homelabs with Siems and firewall
Get your foot in the door and start building experience and then reputation.
The best entry point depends on several factors, including your specific background and available opportunities. If you have experience as a SysAdmin, look for a comparable Security Admin position that is focused on care & feeding and routine maintenance of a Security system. Otherwise, look for a Security Operations Analyst (SOC Analyst) job where you will focus on event monitoring and Incident Response. From either vantage point you can begin scoping out the numerous directions that you could take your care. Blue Team, Red Team, GRC, Engineer, Architect, Project Management, Leadership, etc.
Networking, ok Linkedin at event that is how I got my foot in the door
