It's been 45 days, j would urge you to consider giving it more time.
With that said, boomerangs are common - if you have a good relationship with your former MD, there is no harm in reaching out.
My main concern is that it has been such short time and to not send the wrong message to tje team. They said I can always come back though, and while I could look at other options, if there is anything I learned is that 1) I am a consultant through and through. 2) My compensation and title don’t matter when I am not happy with my job on a daily basis

1.5 months is like almost no time at all, but if you want to go back then reach out to your team. It sounds like the relationship was pretty good
Yes you could come back. It'll be at the same salary and level as when you left.
Reach out to your old team to confirm if there is still a spot for you, and if so, when it may be available or unavailable. For example, maybe companies stopped hiring in order to keep the bench light through the holidays. This way, you have an idea of possible exit timing.
But before agreeing to return, keep trying to make things work with your current boss. I'd give it 4-6 months, then decide. Overall, I would try to get another industry job (whether internal transfer or a new company) first because going back to your old firm will just buy time until you want to leave again.
I knew within a month I wanted to boomerang but I gave it a year.
It’s never too early to reach out to former leadership you worked with assuming you ended on good terms. That being said, don’t expect any sort of promotion or pay raise from what you left if you’re coming back this early.
For sure, that is understood. I am more worried of that putting me more in backline somehow, its super unfortunate. But yes had a great relationship with my cc & md
