I joined Cognizant in November 2025 and got assigned to a billable project, on the very same day, which is new project to cognizant with a commitment of 5 years. But now, after almost completing onboarding (and it’s been almost 2 months since I joined), they are saying there will be client interviews. Why are they conducting client interviews now, after so much time has already passed?

I already did the pre interview call, assessment, technical phone interview with director and now am invited for the (I believe final) on-site virtual interview for a quality assurance engineer I role. I was wondering what kind of contractual or other barriers I might face if I apply for one of the big 4 while working on a project with them in my current company.
I am not too involved in the project but I was in a few meetings and went on a field trip with them as well.
The position that I am applying for is in a different team and city.
