I just found out my company has a salary cap for individual contributors, meaning I have to choose between a stagnant paycheck or moving into management. I love the freedom of being an AE and I absolutely hate the idea of sitting in internal strategy meetings all day, but I’ve officially reached the top tier of our corporate compensation matrix. My base is stuck at $115k, and the only way to get a bump is to become a team lead and take on the administrative headaches of eight other people. Why do companies force their best closers into management tracks?

I really want to get a second job but I am scared of losing my current one. Both companies are in same field, although not direct competitors so I know it’s technically “not allowed” however, this is the only way for me to get that $$ since I am not paid all that well.

Of course I won’t tell a single friend/coworker. Only my partner. And I don’t post work stuff on social media.

Realistically what are the ODDS of being caught? Is there a legal/HR process with which they could find out??

Owner of a power washing company, in the DC metro area. Looking to hire a commercial sale executive with a quota of 400-500k for year 1 within our 9-10-month season. Wondering what that looks like from a compensation standpoint?

Full disclosure: This is my second company. I have been solely responsible for 3-4 million in sales/revenue across this and my now sold commercial cleaning company. I have no training whatsoever, and am not a sales manager. Looking to make the best hire. HELP!

Recently moved into Tech Sales. Frustrated with my Salary (32K base/year, negligible bonus potential of a few K). Was making ~3K/week on average in my previous role which was commission only, no base. Feel like I am completely wasting my time and potential. Saw the cut as necessary evil initially in order to move into tech sales and make multi six figure commissions later on with potential to reach 7 figures in total comp. At least my current role is with enterprise accounts which. Thought?

I am a proposal manager for federal consulting company. My base is low (112000) but I make up upto 50-70% of my base income with win bonuses. But I get the bonus only after the completion of one year of the base period of the contract. My question is -is this arrangement good or should I negotiate for higher base instead ?

For people who have profit sharing what have your experiences been? For anyone who receives a quarterly bonus or raise in some form, does your employer start to schedule you for less hours when your raise kicks in, or pull you from a future schedule entirely once you receive a bonus; only to put you back on once the hours you would have worked and earned the amount given are passed? Ie; a part time employee getting $200.00 in a quarterly bonus and then not being scheduled a whole week during a bi-weekly pay period where they would have earned more on the clock…?

I work as a Business Development Manager at a sports club.. I’ve been given a couple of months “trial” in the 6 figure and above sales in which I don’t see going back to my other role on lower sales. This was a somewhat good move for me until I consider missing out on commission each month that was more than my salary. (£25k salary, over £2k per month commission)
How do I go about raising this concern? I believe I should be paid more now and at least change my job title?

I work in commercial real estate retail leasing. Current employer just increased base to $100k with avg. 20-35% bonus/commissions combined. Received offer to exclusively work for a tenant and help them open new locations. $115k base 10% bonus & also stock options. Remote work, lots of driving, similar job title. Its a VC funded startup & aggressively growing. I’ve never worked for a start up, so curious what everyone’s experiences are and any feedback would be super appreciated thank you!!

Tips for 6-month eval? Originally hired at 35K as assistant and was told if I performed well, I could expect to make 50K after a year. After one week, the operations manager resigned and I took over as a trial. Officially am operations manager, but no title (only verbal) and no raise. Owner likes benefits over big pay raises. Thinking about asking for 46K, new cellphone and official title change. I'm expecting some negotiating, which I've never done. 24F, AA Bus Admin, and overall good employee
