I just graduated college with my BS in ME and I’m starting a new job as an engineer. I’m really interested in mechanical design but this job does not have a design focus at all. That’s all good, I’m thankful I have a job anyways so it will do for now. However, is it going to be challenging for me to get a job that has a design focus, a couple years down the line, if I’m coming from an engineering job that does not have a design focus?

I have an active secret clearance, BS in strategic intelligence, working on a masters in cybersecurity, and taking Security+ in December. No work experience in cyber, just my education and bootcamp course for Security+. Should I still apply for job that want 2-5+ years cyber experience and/or an active TS clearance?

I couldn’t get an internship while in school. I have a BS in ME and projects from school under my belt. I’ve also passed the FE exam. I’ve been mostly just doing CAD for a company for the last year by creating minimally dimensioned drawings and moving parts around in assemblies. I want to evolve in my career and be doing more.
