Red flag if an employer asks your current salary. It is completely irrelevant. Get paid the market rate; it doesn't matter what you're making now.
For example my last jump was 50%, but it only seems great because I was underpaid for a few years. Imagine I told them my current pay + 10k... would've been making much less.
They won’t ask for your pay stubs and if they do, just photoshop the number to what you said it was.
Worst suggestion to photoshop smh
Unfortunately, this information is easily gathered because most companies report it to Equifax already. It's an easy way for HR teams to know what you make without asking. Go to theworknumber.com and request a block before they find out.
Very few companies actually report this anywhere. I would know I used to do HR due diligence and 75% companies left this unreported.
Employers don’t ask for current paystubs. Everyone lies about current salary a little
I’ve seen people recommend responding to this with “ I am looking for a salary of $x/range” vs “I am making $x in my current role.” It answers what they actually need to know and you’ve never fibbed.
