I am a lateral resource and they hired me in June, but they have no projects related to my tech and want me to take weird roles.. seems they are hiring to increase employee count and cross training most. just looking for options..

This is a fantastic starting salary. They are being entitled or are terrible at negotiating
A lot of people are talking about their own starting salaries 5+ years ago, and while 50k seems a lot to me (I started on 30k 8 years ago in Toronto with a masters and 6 months of interning experience) I think we should be challenging our own instinct to accept so little.
If we’re expected to give our jobs the majority of our time and energy, we should at the very least be able to comfortably live on our salaries. Industry salaries have barely shifted in Toronto in the past decade. And for context, in 2012, you could rent an entire one bed for $800 CAD, now you’d be lucky to pay under $2k. I don’t blame people starting out for their complete apathy on wages. It’s always seemed absurd to me that I was expected to struggle through the first 5 years of my career in order to eventually make a liveable wage.
Preach! Be the difference and make it better for those who follow.
Associate Account Manager in Mindshare with 2 or more years of experience will get you $50k annually. Account Managers at $60k. Those interns are dreamers!
I have 10 years professional writing experience but just a little over a year as specifically an advertising cw in an agency. I was freelancing and writing longer form content previously. I had to negotiate for 50k as a junior in Chicago. Not sure what the exchange rate is. I took the position. But it’s laughably low, even for an entry when you factor cost of living. And I have no qualms leaving my current shop for a higher paying one after I’ve sold a fair amount of work and argued for a cost of living wage. Intern behavior seems unprofessional, but considering one of my bi-monthly paychecks goes completely to rent and the other basically only covers bills…? I want the bag.
That sounds like a great offer. I would def accept that.
