Cancelled two days ago. Renewed a month ago: Used the dining credits, used the 300 Marriott credit (btw it does work on gift cards I tested it), got a new priority pass membership valid to 2024, the 50,000 credit, then downgraded to the other Marriott Amex.

So they gave me 40 dollars in dining, 300 in Marriott credits, 2 year PP membership, and a 50,000 voucher.

All for $450 minus the prorated refund of $375…so 75 bucks for arguably $500+ of service and value. Win. And no, they don’t claw back the 50k voucher. I may lose the PP membership by EOY but I still came out on top.

Edit: downgraded card is $95 a year and you will have to pay the prorated difference.

Great data point. Will prob do the same. pp def won’t last but it’s typically useless imo.

I wonder if the free nights stay on your account the rest of the year after you cancel? Mine renews in Nov and it may be worth keeping til Jan if that’s the case.

I hate having to ask this question but I know a stigma exists around it: is it okay to look for/start a new job while trying to plan for a new child? If I start at my new job now, I will definitely be leaving for maternity leave before my first year is over. Perhaps this has been asked before but I’m new here and looking for some advice.

Trying to get a feeler for comp and whether I am underpaid or overpaid:

Base: 150.5k
Bonus: 15-16%
Pension: 4% PA (not sure if I should be including this or not, but I’m fully vested so I get to take this $$$ with me if I leave)

Total comp comes out to be around 179k-181k, manager in Advisory, tech implementations, Program/project management at a mid tier firm (not big 4) with 7.5 YOE

Would love to hear thoughts, considering jumping to another firm for a better offer or stick where I am.
