I had an interview w/ the Hiring Manager at Boston Consulting Group for a position and it went so well that the HM said on the spot I was going to be moving onto the next round. Its been weeks since that interview & I've had to follow up w/ the recruiter 3x asking for an update. I mentioned interviewing elsewhere but prioritizing BCG. He finally responded to that saying he was going to debrief with the HM and get back to me but nothing... what gives?

I haven’t hung up out of the blue but I’ve had clients yell at me and I stopped them, said we are all adults here, if you keep yelling, I’m going to hang up and you can come back and talk to me once you’ve calmed down. They either apologize or get defensive. When they start yelling again, I hang up and I refuse their call for the rest of the day. Nearly every time, they apologize the next day.
Wrong bowl?
I’d be over the line with it and contact my supervisor or whomever is leading the initiative to explain the situation and respectfully ask to roll off. No job is worth being disrespected unless you got a number for that
I did that once. One person on a client site was trying to get me rolled off. Her concern was me replacing her co-workers, which I had no intention of doing. I explained that to her. But she would call me names, report every comment she didn’t like, looking for any justification to roll me off. I explained to the consulting company the situation. All they cared about was are you billable. Make no mistake consulting is just reselling hours at a markup. They really don’t care about how a client treats you. Client offered me work on another team. I opted to leave. Off to higher quality clients.
She literally said everyone from Accenture is trash. At that particular moment with absolutely zero support from Accenture side I agreed with her. Thats not what I said though. I said it’s funny you say that because your co-workers were gossiping and said the same about you yesterday. I said it with a little smile, calmly, knowing I had just dug my grave and not giving a single fuck. No one is calling me trash even in a round about way for any amount of money. She was probably baiting me. I didn’t get fired over it. What’s she going to report her own co-worker called her trash. It was all kinda childish, but those are the games we play and I left with my self respect intact.
