I requested 1wk off during thanksgiving and 2wks off for XMas break at the beginning of the yr, so that I can go home and visit family. However, due to COVID, I moved back home and now I’m being asked if I still need that time off since I’m home already. Given the fact that EY will be transitioning to unlimited vaca next yr, I want to keep my vaca as is since I’ve earned those PTO. I know we are behind on client deliverables, but I could use the break since we’ve been working nonstop. WWYD? TIA

Take time off. You need it to take time off from being with your family all the time.

like

No brainer. It’s not just the immediate family but extended family that is visiting during those two spots you blocked. So you will continue with your plans. Thank you for asking!

funny

“I have vacation plans I can’t move. Sorry”

likefunnysmart

Lmao I guess I was overthinking this. Maybe it is that simple lol thanks

like

I think being asked that is kinda rude tbh! Take the vacation and spend the time with your family and get some rest

like

“Yes.”

Take your vacation. Don’t feel bad.

like

Take it. It’s rude for them to ask especially since they know our vacation is being stripped from us.

like

"Thanks for checking in! While I am already home, we are still continuing with some of our normal holiday plans in COVID fashion. I will have limited access to email."

likesmart

My supervisor checked in with me on it. No need to be rude about it. I have noticed that generally people aren't asking you to cancel PTO but rather trying to confirm plans have not changed (with COVID, many plans are moved quite often).

like

Wow. You are entitled to that vacation time, you can still take it even if your initial justification for the time changed. You don’t need to explain yourself - yes, you are still taking that vacation time.

like

Is that even a question? Please take your time off, we all need breaks.

like

Take PTO. Unprofessional of them to ask if you still "need" it

like

For sure do it before ‘unlimited vacation’...because that’s when things get really tough.

I was told that I can’t take any additional vacation till 12/31 since I signed up for the project. If I knew my earned vacation of 20 days will expired on 12/31, I was plan to take before not in January...

My talent team scheduler told me that I’m not allowed to request additional vacation at this moment. Since I listed little vacation days, I was selected to that project (mid Sept) and new policy announced after that...

I'm still under probation but assigned to a Project already. Should I ask my Account Manager and HR about it or its unethical to do so. Am i making a mistake to ask and confirm about NP even before my offer letter or its ok to just enquire what's the process and possibility to reduce NP as we have buyout option too.
