I want to share my experience who wants to leave IT and join government sector.
I was working in TCS for 3 years. I didn't liked things there so I started preparing for government jobs and got job through IBPS scale 2 IT officer in rrb. But after few months i realise that it is worse than TCS. So, i prepared again and switched back in IT in wipro. I am working in wipro from last 1.5 years and like it here.. Politics is everywhere.
So, if you like technology and willing to work than stay in IT.

They are old peoples with old mindsets. My General manager constantly compare us with private sector. He says that in private sector people work for 8-9 and you are leaving at 6:30. I agree but in private sector they are rewarded accordingly.
We were having only 30 minutes lunch break and use to constantly monitor our screen that what are we doing.
I was building some new features in bank website and he was saying it to deliver in 7 days. And used to says that 10-10 hazaar me mil jati hai aise websites market se. His son was Infosys, so always use to says that my son is working till late night and you are leaving at 6-6:30.
And, in government sector you have always address your senior as sir and he is always right. If you say anything against him he will transfer you to some remote village. Many of my work mates were sent to small towns of Rajasthan. They feel they are superior. Or wha Jo chat ta hai usi ki value hai.. woh din bhar idhar ki udhar karta rehta hai. Mere office me chugli khori bhi bahut karte they. In short, not a friendly environment. You will always feel that someone is monitoring you. Even for taking a single sick leave we have to provide medical certificate otherwise casual leave will be deducted. Also, only alternative saturdays were off.
And the main reason which triggered was once after completing the work I was going after giving the status to my chief manager at 6:15. To which he says, kaha majdooro ki tarah tum bag uthakar aa jate hai.. dekho sab baithke kaam kar rhe hai.
I also filed a written complaint for this to my chairman. He forwarded it to GM, GM asked me to take it back otherwise it will be vad for my career. But I didn't, so he asked chief manager to write a response on this. On which he said he has not said anything like that and all the other employees who were sitting there who worked under him, says hmne nhi suna. Only one of my teammates says ki Aisa bola tha.. but kuch action nhi lia GM ne ki koi solid proof nhi hai or mamala dba dia. And in next year, chief manager got promoted to AGM. And my team lead who used to support me was transferred in Baran region ( rural areas). We were team of 3 developers. My lead was transferred. And we 2 switched. I switched in wipro and she switched to differ bank. And we were replaced by their chamchas.
In short, if you have worked in IT then you will not like it there. If someone is directly working in government Bank, he will like it because according to him that is best and he will feel that being bullied by senior is common in workplaces.

Nice post

Who doesn't know that bank jobs are not that good?.some people here are satisfying there ego and decision of being in IT job and trying to have some superiority complex. Not all the jobs are bad in Govt sector. I have many people around me who are working in Govt sector and are happy. It's just you can have bad bosses everywhere. Those unlucky cases are few, you were the unlucky here..

Yes I agree bad boss are everywhere. But if you got a bad boss in government job, you have to deal with him everyday.
But if you got a bad boss in IT, you can switch within few months. So, things are in your control in IT.
Also, the amount of hardwork needed to get a normal government job is very much. In half of the hardwork you can double your package in IT.
Now, even the benefits are no more in government jobs like pension and all. And government is also privatising the things. Only few departments will be purely government in future.
Also, in developed countries, no body joins government job and we are moving towards developed State.

I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? For context, it’s a professional services firm, I’ve been there 3+years, and they gave a Sales Executive title to someone who just started 5mo ago.

Hi all- My SO is currently at a Big4 & was initially preparing for S&O roles at GCP but given the high number of ex MBB consultants hired, they believe its just more competition to get the offer & to eventually get promoted over time.

Instead, they have decided to pursue program manager or cloud consultant roles, which they feel might have a lower barrier to entry from an assessment standpoint. Not sure if the bowl agrees but would like to get your thoughts, thanks!

How does health insurance at MBB & T2 strategy consulting firms compare to Tricare Reserve Select for a family? I’m 99% getting out of the Reserve within the next year and, assuming things go well with recruiting, would switch to the firm insurance as my primary once I start. Just want to confirm that there’s no reason for me to stay

Where should I apply if I want to exit consulting but significantly increase my TC. Currently ~250k (200k base, 50k billable bonus).

Don't want to work in MANGA because their goals are uninteresting to me and their practices are pathetic.

Hello Fishes!

Really looking for some insights as I am deciding between two job offers.

1. Capgemini - Kolkata, Manager C2 | 27 LPA (Fixed 24.5)
2. TEKsystems - Remote, Senior Engineer | 31 LPA Fixed

(I am based out of Kolkata)

Honestly I don't know much about Teksystems, other than what I've read in Glassdoor. I liked their interview process though.

Please factor in job security as well in your suggestions.

Looking forward to get your views! 🙏🏻
