How is typically life for these positions requiring travel? This is for a SWE position.
Currently work with clients is remote as stated by the recruiter. If work is currently feasible through virtual means, will there be flexibility to choose to travel for this position?

Some years back most of us were using using cash for our daily transactions and some other methods which were not very convienient and quick. Fast forward UPI came which is super easy, fast, secure, available to all, even small shops. Now imagine u need to return money to someone who is in different city and that person denies online money transfer wants only cash stating that "Before UPI you used to come and give cash only right so why not do the same"
Great example . Also,no matter how much it is justified, companies will call employees to office and we have to obey. They will obey to the govt pressure. Nd we poor employees have no other option
In my village everyone used to walk 3km daily to get drinking water from well ..one day people found there is poison at the bottom in the water so they stopped going there so all people decided to build a new well and got an idea about having pipeline connections to their home and now they were so comfrtable and having a good water at their home which saved their energy and time which they started investing in other productive work.after 2 years this old well owner came back and said now i have removed all poision please start taking water again... but no one is intrested now
except the owner and people who live very close to well 😂😂
Wow superb answer...👏👏👏
It should basically be a choice. If you want to WFO, you can. If you want to WFH, peacefully do that.
As long as your deliverables are on point, why should companies intervene, I don't see a point in dragging employees back to where they don't wanna be.
Earlier everyone used to walk 7 kms to reach healthcare, bijli waali ek bulb rehti thi ghar pe, paani dine mein 2 baar, 1 ghate ke liye aati thi, and I am sure abhi bhi kai jagaon pe hai aise. Aapko quality of life suddharni hai over time ki nobody used to have any issues when all these used to happe few years back now what is this demand. Samay ka ek hi direction hota hai behen, aage.
Its just a matter of preference for each individual. What might be a serious issue for u working from office, might not seem serious for others. I feel each org should allow both options for better employer and employee relationship.
There is nothing like right or wrong.
COVID has changed people perception. Now they think more about their work-life balance, family time etc......
Covid thaught people that Life is unpredictable.. so enjoy...
WFH is a win win case for organization and the employees. Employees are as productive as they were when working from offce. They are saving on commute time and expense (getting better work life balance in the process). Organizations are reducing the seats and saving on overheads. Thus, resulting in savings which they can now splurge on giving additional raise to the employees to retain them in times of great resignation.
On a lighter note: Working from Home is Good for the Environment. Especially people in metro cities who have to spend an average of 2 hours daily in commuting to office.
My preference is Hybrid Working environment: say 2 Days work from office and 3 days Work from home. It might suit for certain business operations.

😂
There are couple of things
1. With wfh our workload has increased we are able to utilise our time in travelling in working more. With wfo I am not sure we'll be able to tak that load.
2. Priorities have changed for PPL during corona times when they lose lots of their close ones that staying with their family is the best they can do when they need help
Earlier too WFH existed but in certain cases that too in product based org. In service based companies people used to work from ODCs to run client business.
Now, thinks have changed. Due to pandemic people realising what they were missing i.e. family life. Growing parents, time with Spouse and own children and all. They understood that business can run irrespective of the location. Still WFO option is still open for people who are not comfortable to WFH.
I believe the simple answer to your question, lies in the fact that owing to the WFH situation, some myths about working from office were automatically debunked. For example: often we heard folks say that well, this work can not be done if i don't go to office. The sheer necessity made people change that. We also heard that productivity takes a hit if there is no accountability. Again, that has been proven wrong. Ask any operation leader, the productivity has increased instead of decreasing over time. So now, the question you really need to answer is why should people not have the choice, of either working from office or from home.
A lot of things have changed since Covid. When people moved back to their hometowns, they got to live with their family & friends and got accustomed to this new social life. This has become their new comfort zone, similar to how a kid feels comfortable going to one school and is hesitant moving to another school for whatever reasons.
This was just to answer your question on why there’s an issue/hesitation in returning to offices.
My personal opinion on this is that too much of anything is not good. There must be a balance maintained between WFH & WFO. And needless to say, it’s been proved with time that working from home can be as productive or even more compared to working from an office. But, office environment is necessary too, for a persons all round growth and mental health.
Companies and employees both need to understand this and work together towards a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Such a lame comparisons on this post...these UPI companies were not built by working from home. So if you are using UPI conveniently that's just because teams worked, collaborated and innovated together. You can't innovate much on zoom calls as simple as that. How many UPI companies you know are built by working from home? Maybe we won't even have one if we were working from home since the beginning lol!

This is like audience sitting on chair in cricket match, shouting and bashing at real players from stands for dropped catches and runs they haven't scored. But when they ask the audience to actually substitute real players, they can't really perform 0.01% of the real players.
Even though there was issue of old age parents before covid , the probability of getting an emergency situation was minimal.
Now in the covid era , if anyone get infected with the virus nobody is going to help you. In case of elderly parents ,the situation become worse . The covid is still here and we do see spikes in the cases. This makes people little reluctant to move back to office location.
I believe once govt declares covid is gone or we don't see any death due to covid anyone is happy to work from office.
I can understand that married men (I'm not yet) want to get back to WFO because of the overwhelming pressure of work, wife and kids at Same time 😁
Moreover people want to look busier than they actually are. Gappe ladane ko bhi milte h with new new .... 🤣🤣🤣
Paisa bachta hai and that’s what everyone is trying to earn MONEY.
Why do you WORK?
To earn money so why not save it up on travelling and rent.
Logic is simple
Before Covid it was our Mazboori to do WFO. Even I was doing WFH/WFO before Covid. Now if we can do WFH then why to choose WFO.
Hhyhgghhgggggggggggggm900⁹8j09l
Because COVID introduced us to the reality that how vulnerable we are... Before covid we were relaxed that ok my parents can still travel to market , buy groceries, visit hospital, to parks but in covid we got to know that how important it is to protect them and look after them all the time,
This can obviously not be achieved through phone or WhatsApp calls,
I know the author and many others enjoy nuclear setup , living in big cities with wife and enjoying privacy but most of us cannot do that. It's our responsibility to look after our elders
We seek comfort and now we know we can get such a huge level of comfort
Lahu muh lag gya bhai, ab to WFO mushkil hi hai😅
That's what evolving with time is .
