I was having a bad day today and was in some self pity mode (good reason) but she hugged me and I feel little better. This week will be rough past the anniversary of what what happened.

Perspective: monogamy is anti-human nature; in this era where each parent could raise a kid independently, marriage tends to be a shackle on many aspects of life. We live once, why does society expect us to live with 1 person for 60+ years? No wonder divorce rates are through the roof!

I’ve learned recently about some traumatic events that family members of mine have gone through but I had no idea had occurred. Hi everyone, realizing my career may be incompatible with my needs at home (I have a school age child with special needs). Any moms/dads find any companies or jobs in the UX field that are part time? Last night I went over to my friends house (she has 2 kids, 2 and 4 yo). She and her husband were asking me about my pregnancy and planning. And were asking what I’ve prepped to date. I’m only 13w2 days so I think it’s way to early for buying stuff, but I did mention we hired a baby nurse for when the baby comes. My friend completely berated me, short of calling me a bad mom already, saying “what is she going to do all day? Don’t you want to bond with your child?”. I’m so upset by this.

When did you know your firm wasn't right for you? I'm not sure if it's just the stress of being a new attorney with a family or if my job isn't the right fit. I work in civil litigation and am consistently below my billables. I can't stay late because my kids need me and I can't work on the weekends because I have to maintain my house and take care of my kids. I'm being constantly told to work harder, stay later, etc but it's not practical. Or am I not approaching this with the right mindset?

My girlfriend is willing to break off our entire relationship because she found out my mom doesn't approve of her. We have no issues between each other but she said she can't be with someone who's family doesn't like her.

Getting over heartbreak and having a full time job is torture lol. My boyfriend and I just broke up after almost a year of being together. Help!! My bestfriend is doing two months abroad and was trying to fly into turkey when they told her she couldn't because her passport expired within three months.

She went to the US Embassay in Athens knowing she had a month left of traveling, and gave her an emergency passport and punched holes in her exsisting one. Now no country will let her in with her emergency passport.

Can her mom get her a passport in the US and ship it to her? Is there anyway around this?

SIL and BIL told us excitedly last weekend that she was pregnant (had literally just found out, so barely four weeks). This week she tells us she’s not pregnant anymore :(. They did not seem super torn up about it and were very practical about it. We said how sorry we were, etc etc. should I do anything else? Should I not mention it again unless they do?

The biggest thing I keep running and running around my head- after 8 months, why did he drop me? When he texted ending it l….it wasn’t me, like we weren’t us, his words were from someone else, like I didn’t matter. It doesn’t matter how much it wasn’t about me, how he chose to end it, and that’s what crushed me. Who I thought I knew was wrong. I want to know how close he was to loving me.

People who live with housemates / have a garden. Does it get noisy / do you find people in the garden earlier than (we) finish, that distract you from your work?

I have a promising interview at a relatively large law firm in my area (+100 attorneys) next week. The position is for a transactional role in their real estate practice group, and they are seeking someone with at least 2 YOE. I have a bit over 7 YOE with a strong real estate/commercial lit. background. Over the past two years in my current position, I've been doing a lot more transactional work. The split is around 50% transactional and 50% lit.
