I worked at ey for 10 years and came across decent people vast majority of the time. Just say you live with your high risk parent and have no way to isolated for 14 days after and you and your family are not comfortable with the risk. Ask if the count can be done virtually. They either come back saying it can be done virtually or come back saying they will look for someone else to do it. If they come back saying you have to do it in person bring it up to your partner or counselor to help you deal with it. Ey does actually have your back and this will get resolved to your satisfaction
It won’t end up in your official feedback, no.
You are the one with leverage. Not saying you won’t hear grumbles but trust me- the Vice Chairs are taking this extremely seriously and have your back.
It’s an awkward time and annoying....if someone were to put that in your feedback it would be a resoundingly bad look on them. Good luck!
I would document your reasons in email and save the paper trail if for whatever it comes up later. Health over your job and this would be terrible PR for EY if it came out that it impacted your reviews/career.
I would make sure I communicated the reason why i was uncomfortable if I were in your position. People will likely be much more understanding than if you just say "no". Not that you should have to give any more reason
Your manager might give you crap, but trust that your partner will give your manager more crap if that happens
Make a decision and inform the team early so they have time to switch things around and find a replacement. You won’t hear grumbles if you give people enough time to make changes.
No, just be upfront and professional about your concerns. Good for you for being careful.
Report them the your local city, county or state if they give you shit
Only way you get in trouble is by not saying anything now, sitting on it, and raising issue last second. Ensure you raise it swiftly, respectfully, and to the right people and you will be fine
If the team scheduled from another office, chances are they didn’t pick you specifically and you were the lucky one picked by scheduling. Teams are only allowed to do in person inventories with approval and that is predicated on finding someone that is ok doing it. If you’re not comfortable, put on your big boy or girl pants and tell someone.
You need to do what’s best for you and your family. If you don’t feel safe going, then don’t go.
