So much work, so little time😭
I think I might get a divorce
The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

EY, I am so sorry that it happened to you. Have you tried seeking counseling or even shared with your health professional or even corporate HR?
Definitely seek help, EY. As C1 said, it will manifest itself in bad ways if you don’t.

OP, I’m sorry that happened, that’s awful.
The reality is that your employer and those around you can’t know or guess what is negatively impacting your work and leading you to perform poorly, and tbh it’s not on them to pry on your personal life. It’s a place of work and if there is something that affects your performance, it’s on you to communicate and work with HR to help resolve.
At the end of the day, we are all just another headcount for your employer, and it’s on us to take care of ourselves and seek help. Hope you will take steps to do that, good luck!
OP I’m really sorry that happened to you and that you’ve been suffering in silence for years. If you’re ready, I really think you should talk to HR (if you haven’t already) and a lawyer
I appreciate it D1. My fear all along has been HR would just try to protect the firm and I’d be exposed so I chose to bottle it up and try to move on
To everyone that’s curious, we were at a work happy hour and they were being flirty all night. The person knew I wasn’t gay so I didn’t make a big deal out of it. At the end of the night, they were drunk and asked if they can share my Uber. I wasn’t fully comfortable but went along anyways. When we got in the Uber, they started grabbing my nuts and attempted to kiss me. I could’ve get out the Uber right away as we were in the middle of the freeway
I heard that Brandon Frazier was assaulted and it affected his whole career.
Can you move on? It sounds like a bad place to be. It can be better.
I know it’s hard, I went through a similar situation. Reaching out to a therapist (and friends, but mainly my therapist) was the best thing I could have done. It took me a couple of years, but I was able to close that chapter of my life.
Working somewhere else is not an option?
Try not to be upset about other people assuming, they can’t know unless you open up. Sometimes they are going through some situation themselves...
Yes, I took another offer and will be leaving in a few weeks. You’re right. I shouldn’t be upset but part of me was hoping someone would reach out to talk as just humans instead of assuming but it’s my fault for setting expectations
Can you please elaborate? It is hard for a straight male to understand how this would affect your self esteem? I’m sorry this affected you in this way…
I think it is 💯 acceptable to ask. It may have happened to us and we didn’t even know it! Just like racism…
I am sorry this happened to you. As others have suggested already, please try to talk to the HR or any mentor if you have in your company.
If you are still at EY please check out LYRA. You get 25 free sessions with a therapist a year.
