It’s a race to the bottom. It’s unfortunate. Carriers want to minimize costs at the expense of quality representation. Nearly all of the time, it works for them. Until they’re pummeled by better plaintiff’s attorneys, they won’t change their ways. In sum, ID firms have to get worse at their jobs before it’ll get better. If the ID firms are providing satisfactory representation at these rates - why change, in the carriers view?
AA5, those horrible plaintiffs attorneys are the only reason you have a job, associate. The sooner you learn that, the better off you'll be.

This isn’t my practice area, but from what I e read here it seems as if a monthly fee for service plan would make sense for ID law firms. Where the firm would handle cases not on a billable hour basis, but on a fee for project/subscription basis.
Yep. Should 100% be restructured to take new billing guidelines into account. But no one in management is willing to listen (or care) about the need for change 😢
Yes absolutely agree with this. It has needed to be restructured even before covid given that it’s no longer 1985. These firms need to get with the program because this is unsustainable.
Yeah my billing has suffered the past year or so
What is your billable requirement?
Its not just thinking only. But that thought process ends up in the work product that prepared ie status reports, memos, letters, etc. And granted this is only one that this has happened. Overall ive averaged ~2500
Are you also arguing for lower salaries?
Raise rates. You can’t expect attorneys to work for for less.
