If a client makes a 1040 extension payment electronically on the IRS site, do we have to separately transmit their extension as well or does that payment count as the extension? I feel like I’ve seen it done both ways (filing on top of them making the payment as well as not filing if they make the payment).

Make an electronic payment and get an automatic extension of time to
file
An extension of time to file will automatically process when you pay all or part of your
taxes electronically by April 15. There’s no need to file a paper or electronic Form 4868,
Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return.
However, an extension of time to file is not an extension to pay. You can file up to six
months later when you have an extension, but your taxes are still due by your original
due date. You can get an automatic extension when you make a payment with Direct
Pay, the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System or by debit or credit card.
When paying electronically, you must select Form 4868 as the payment type and the
payment date in order to get the automatic extension. Keep the confirmation you
receive as proof of your payment

Payment ≠ extension. Need to file 4868

This isn’t accurate

Agree with Manager 1. Some people still e-file the 4868, but you don’t have to.

Does anyone here work for any public accounting firms in the Charlotte area with a decent work life balance? I am looking to go somewhere where I can focus on a few clients for longer periods of time rather than constantly bouncing around. I find it much less stressful to put in longer hours if it's a client that I have been scheduled on long term.

I checked my offer letter and no where they have mentioned about the conflict of interest policy.

Can someone explain how billable hours work? At a new agency and although I had to fill timesheets at my previous agencies, they were mainly used to ensure we weren’t over servicing a client/for setting the appropriate retainer for contract renewals. I asked ppl at my agency but haven’t gotten a proper explanation. I get the impression that billing to the agency admin code isn’t recommended, and my manager said he bills everything to client codes, but that doesn’t make sense to me .

People who have transitioned from consulting to industry or an objectively less demanding role (i.e working 40-45 hrs a week), what makes you feel good about your decision? After a decade in client services, I’m reaching a breaking point and can’t see consulting being sustainable with a young family. But I’m so achievement-driven that I’m having a hard time taking my foot off the gas; I know seeing peers advance once I’ve stepped away will be hard. For context, I’m F and ~8 yrs away from Partner

Hi IBM sharks 😊

So I joined IBM in May 2022 and was on bench for 5.5 months since then.I will be allocated to a project next week. Also my probation got confirmed a week back.

I have following queries-
1)With me joining a project so late, can I expect a Variable Pay in March 2023?
2)The manager told me I have flexibility to choose 2-11 shift or work in morning as everyone is flexible here. What must I do officially to get that monthly shift allowance?

Any inputs r highly appreciated guys 😊

Do you know what project delivery benefits are there? Seems like from what I heard, project delivery limits to you a ton of resources at the firm... including degree tuition. Do you even get reimbursed for certifications?..

Tiger Analytics has started firing their new joineers(freshers) as they don't have adequate projects. I don't know where the freshers will go as they haven't done any project as such.

This is just pathetic from organization. They are just firing people owing to failing a test of certification, for which other company gives 3 trials but they are giving only one try with negative markings

I have a real estate client who at the top of his organization chart owns is 50/50 partners in a real estate investment company. First question is it advantageous to have the top of the organization 50/50 partners own the r/e company as an s-corp? That 50/50 company then owns 70% of holding company they own all the real estate as a partnership that the original partners are 35/35 and the investors own the remainder. All the real estate deals are then owned by this holding company.
