If a recruiter tells you they’ll get back to you next week with feedback after a (supposedly) final interview, is that a hint you didn’t get the gig? The interview went really well with some promising language, but I know things in the recruiting world can change in an instant.

A bunch of random notes:

1: Recruiters are inherently not the strongest employees in a company, so keep that in mind
2: The people from which recruiters have to source feedback are typically very busy, and the actual mechanism of extending a job offer can take time, even if you are at the final stage
3: There’s also a good chance they are waiting to see if a given project has popped before offering you a role (terrible practice, but it happens a lot)
4: There is a good chance they are just ghosting you. Remember point #1

Best of luck!

This is great perspective to keep in mind, thanks! I’ve never gotten ghosted before, but since joining this app I have gotten the vibe that people do not like recruiting and a lot of it stems from this haha

Recruiters are so unpredictable. I’ve gone through the same exact thing and the recruiter ends up ghosting.

Yeah, it’s been 4 rounds over 2.5 months, and the last 3 rounds have all been partners. It all seems like it’s gone well, but I will say this recruiter has been particularly…slow. No clue if the issue is on his end or the hiring team’s. Either way has not inspired confidence in my chances 🙃

like

Don't worry yet. At a big company. Getting the written interview feedback could take at least a day, more if people are busy. Then debrief to decide on final score. Then maybe wait for other candidates to interview. Then let the hiring manager decide. Then set up time with selected candidate to share news.

All this can easily take a week. Sit tight, but follow up when that week is over.

Awesome, thanks for the perspective! It is at MBB, so I assume there are larger mechanisms that everybody has to go through that slow things down. The process has already been incredibly drawn out, so not sure why I am suddenly antsy 😅

You can't really tell. They are so hard to read. All you need to do is wait. If it takes you a month of waiting, then that's a big sign.

I'm holding an offer from MakeMyTrip and another offer from OlaElectric. Ninjacart is willing to make me an offer. But they're saying that they'd discuss the offer only after the other company that I'm interviewing with has come up with an offer first. There's been a delay from HRs of the companies in a similar way. How do I urge them to send me the offer letter without sounding pushy? I had reached out to some of the HRs myself. Would that be too awkward if I accept & back out their offer?

I’m job searching right now and applied for a job I was a little overqualified for just to shoot my shot and get my foot in the door with a great brand. The hiring mgr took the time to email me to tell me I was overqualified and offered to help me get connected to his network. He’s been so kind and helpful and I’m kind of in shock at his generosity. Even if an offer doesn’t come from it, is it weird if I send him a Starbucks gift card or something as a thank you? What’s appropriate?

What should he do? Any suggestions?
