Hi I’m a current Graduate student, hoping to get my foot in the door for Deloitte Healthcare Consulting, Accenture CDP, or EY specifically within Chicago Offices. Is there anyone open to connecting and speaking on their experience being hired? I have previous experience working prior to my degree so hoping to get insight on how I can best score an interview. If you’re also open to providing a referral that would be a bonus!

A recruiter shouldn’t randomly be submitting you for jobs without discussing the details with you first. When or if that actually happens, then yes you need to be honest if you’ve been in touch (ie actually talked to / got a response) with someone at that agency in the last 6 months. That’s it. Don’t stop pursuing other avenues to getting a job out of fear a headhunter might have something later - they might never come thru with anything.
What the recruiter did was gave me the status of every agency in the city to get a sense of which agency I want to work at. Am I overreacting by wanting to be a “step ahead” by reaching out to the CD first?
Yes and it is a shi**y thing to do. Don't be that person
Wait is it the same agency she’s putting you in touch with, or are you asking if you should or shouldn’t reach out to any CDs anywhere while a recruiter is searching for opportunities for you?
You can reach out to whoever you want, whenever you want without checking in with your recruiter. The only taboo is if a recruiter tells you about an agency opportunity and you then go around them and reach out on your own. You should also let your recruiter know who you’re talking to for efficiency’s sake.
