If there are a few internal positions that have come up that you want to apply to, would you give either the hiring manager or recruiters a heads up on why you're applying to multiple positions? I want to keep my options open but do not want to be perceived as indecisive.

I’d definitely give them a heads-up! I think being transparent about your interest in multiple roles shows you're exploring the best fit for your skills and career growth. You can frame it positively I think by like emphasizing that you're eager to contribute to the company in different ways, no need to feel embarrassed about having mnay interests

I can't see any downside to alerting someone you want to do that. You might be able to get some insight on what's up with particular positions, which would be a nice benefit. I guess applying for multiple positions could make someone look a little scattershot, so you might as well talk to someone first and get whatever insight you can.

Internally, I would only choose 1 or 2. Otherwise it just looks like you are throwing a lot of bait out there and just hoping something sticks

Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. Trials are rare, and I just don’t think these guys have actually tried many cases. Cont. below…

Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

Anyone go from SaaS / licensing sales to services (strategy & implementation) sales?

I'm thinking of moving from large cap tech to large cap consultancy firm to help build the resume and round out my experience. I enjoy and do well in licensing, but I'm fairly young in my career (<6 years) and received a great offer to make the move.

Big fan of the org and team I'll be joining as well.

Thanks!!

I've been thinking about my career a lot lately. I feel like I've hit a wall, and I don't know how to get past it.
