It’s a no brainer More money more family time would win every day of the week
Honestly, I've disliked most of my jobs, in fact I've never had a job I loved, so I'd choose being with my family and being paid more money. Because I love my family and when I'm paid well we can make more memories together.
Exactly what I said !!
Outside all day bc of the flexibility. Nobody wants to sit in an office and commute 5 days a week
Probably more money/more family time
Why do you hate/love the job respectively?
Also depends on the industry, but you're talking about a $60k swing. That's more than the average salary outside of sales. I could learn to love what I don't like for that much.
If you hate it because it's too hard for you or because it's against your morals, that's different.
Do you love the job more than your family and money?
That's not meant to be dismissive, but rather put it in perspective. "Starving Artists" focus to much on the art. If you have other mouths to feed, you already said it's unstable and less money.
$100k if the economy really gets bad vs. $105k if you're amazing at your job and the economy stays good.
I'm going more money and family time.
The outside job, not only is it more money but makes you more employable.
More money and more family time. I can train myself to like a job.
The inside job, money isn't everything and how good is the family time if your miserable. Id rather work 45 hours a week and have quality time then have a job i hate just eating away at me it's not healthy
Job I love
Family first for me
I’d learn to love the higher paying job with more family time!! Find your worth and enjoyment outside of work! Don’t let your job define you, it’s merely a means to an end. Use it to make memories with your family and invest/save that extra $40K per year!!
First one, but given the context you’ve provided, maybe neither.
Also, what type of companies are they?
I would just like a job...
Inside for me
Remote sales was hell for me. Felt like I was doing homework all day
To be inside home
Make a list of your priorities and see what aligns. Remember, it's harder to find a job you really enjoy. We spend so much time at work, I find it hard to believe that anyone is going to make a long term commitment to a job they hate. I'd go out on a limb and ask the employer of the job you like if it's possible to work one day at home or half days on Friday due to family commitments and see what they say. They can always say no or maybe they have a solution you can compromise on like coming in after your kids are in school (9:30 or 10am). The other thing to ask yourself is how is the pay increase going to impact your family? If it's a major bonus, it might be worth the sacrifice. If it's not going to provide significant value, I'd stick with what you love and wouldn't feel guilty about it. Good luck to you. oxoxo
More family time. I work to live not live to work. What I truly enjoy is not my work it’s what I do in of off time.
I recently changed from job 2 to job 1 and I hate it. Now the salary difference was minimal but everything else is pretty similar to the example. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Life is too short to hate your job. On your death bed, I guarantee you won't say, GEE, I wish I had worked more.
