Yes bruh, you think your company is just gonna let peoples walk away with $10k-$50k for free?
Our society is doomed with younger people like this. Next thing they gonna charge presidential suites on projects and give some hair brained reason why they should

Do you consider yourself a thief?
Obviously one in the making. Next generation of corporate con artists and white collar crime. Will be seeing this guy in cuffs on the telly in 20 years
They literally have no costs to either sue you or send it to collections and ruin your credit. It will cost you more money to resist than to actually just adhere to the contract terms
P1 makes a solid point - big firms have lawyers on staff
When they take you to court, and you lose, you’ll pay their attorneys’ fees so they actually don’t lose any money
OP should go work at game stop not consulting. It would be a better caliber place for someone like you.

I used to work for a very large manufacturing company. There is a company we would hire and they charged a % of what they recovered so every 12-18 months they would go after the $. If they couldn’t get it, we would sell it to a collection company.
I’ve had a tuition repayment clawed back like this. Threatened to send it to collections.
OP are you asking just as a thought exercise or were you actually planning/hoping to do this and try to get away with it?
If the latter, I hope you change your ways, coz that is disgusting behavior.
Does the contract/agreement say that you have to give it back if you don’t come back? Or does it say that you can keep it even if you change your mind? Since it’s a signing bonus, I would assume the prior. Even if there wasn’t any explicit stipulation, I think it’s highly unethical not to give it back. Them asking for it back doesn’t change whether you SHOULD give it back or not.
If I borrow money from a friend and he/she forgets, does that mean I’m clear of my debt? No.
What? Of course they’ll ask for it back. Up to you to refuse to comply then deal with any consequences
Why not just be an honest person and give it back?
OP clearly doesn't know what honest and integrity mean?

It costs absolutely nothing to claw the money back. Of course they will.
Even if it did cost them more to get the money back, they would do it anyway just to prevent more people from thinking like you’re thinking.

Worth it to come after you so there’s not a rep of not going after people
